CHAPTER 5: ADAPT TO LIFE!

TRIS ( LAST NIGHT)
I saw sunny sitting in the lounge after I came back from meeting with lynda. she threw me a disappointed look and stood up from the couch. "where have you been?" sunny asks angrily.
"it's none of your business sunny. " I reply calmly. I was done with my family nagging me all the time.
" How is this not my business, get your priorities set right tris. your the next heir to Rowan enterprises. start acting like your gonna be taking the CEO position next year".
what have I been doing so wrong that my little sister thinks the need of scolding me. I'm doing everything I am asked to. I study with all my might and focus i actually come on the top board. no matter what I do I never seem to be enough.
"try standing in my shoes sunny. it's not easy as it looks I might be the next heir but just know I'm a lifeless robot standing in front of you. because I certainly cant live a life because you and mom want me prepared for a position I'm being forced onto. I wish for once to be treated normally. you took the bit of life I have".
I see Sony's expression change a pang of guilt hits me. I should have never said that.
she throws one last glance at me before running towards her room.
I cant confront her right now. she needs time to process. I don't exactly hate my little sister but I really wish she was understanding.
PRESENT
I'm sitting in class me and sunny's conversation playing in my head. I'm feeling too guilty. the new semester is dull.
"let's give a round of applause to tris and sunny rowen and their family for supporting and donating to the school and many more charities " says the new teacher. my head snaps towards our teacher and I actually pay attention. mom never mentioned such thing. "your supposed to get up and collect your certificate " says the guy Anthony beside me. "oh... alright". I walk up to the front of the class and stand with sunny. the teacher praises our family and the money being provided to the school by rowen enterprises. I scan the crowd and I spot HER. lynda I give a wide smile to her and she reluctantly returns the smile. the day gets over pretty fast. I'm walking home until I see lynda and Ricardo. Ricardo Valencio is never good news he lives on chaos. and is always putting himself and others in trouble. he grabs Lynda's forearm and squeezes it angrily. they're arguing and she looks way to uncomfortable. I walk up to them. looking at me Lynda seems to be relieved. "lynda werent we supposed to discuss our project" I ask her.
"yeah we were. talk to you later Ricardo " she says to him and he glares at her. she gives a smirk and starts walking away. I catch up from behind and match my pace with her. "thanks tris. I truly needed that save" she says
"clearly " I reply.
we stay silent and leave school exchanging goodbyes and planning to meet later on 9. we part our ways. but before leaving I noticed something strange. she saw a text and froze. she masked her terrified reaction with a wide smile and started to walk her way. I found it really strange. what made her scared and paranoid like that? it looked like she was about to throw up. who could've sent her such a text?
