Erick I stood there, frozen, as her words replayed in my mind like a curse. “I want to leave the island.” For a moment, I couldn’t move. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t even breathe. Her voice still echoed in my ears, each syllable hammering against my chest like a blow. Leave? She wanted to leave me? The walls seemed to close in on me.
