Episode 5
Aria stumbled back, her heart hammering. “I—I heard something. I thought—”
“You thought wrong.” Lucian’s voice was low, rough, almost animal. His body trembled as if restraining something just beneath the surface.
He stepped closer, shadows curling around him. “This forest isn’t safe. Not for you. Not for anyone.”
Aria tried to steady her voice. “Safe from what?”
Lucian’s jaw tightened. For a moment, she thought he might answer—but then he looked past her, into the trees, as though listening to something she couldn’t hear.
When his eyes returned to hers, the gold had dimmed, leaving only a stormy darkness.
“Stay out of the woods, Aria. For your own good.”
Before she could say another word, he turned and melted into the forest, vanishing with a speed no human could match.
Aria stood frozen, trembling under the moonlight. The woods felt alive now, whispering around her, every rustle of leaves a threat. She finally forced her legs to move, stumbling back toward town.
But no matter how fast she walked, she couldn’t shake the feeling she was being watched.
Days passed, but the memory of Lucian’s golden eyes haunted her.
