Saving Our Luna

Painful Past

  "Can I ask you some questions? About... well.. the person who hurt you? Where you came from" He didn't want to push too hard, but he needed to find answers. "Yes" She replied in nearly a whisper. 

"When you came into our borders, were you running from them?" She flinched thinking of her escape. "Yes" she whispered. "Who was it? Who was after you?" She panicked for a moment. What if he called him? What if he decided he didn't want such a weak wolf for a mate and sent her back? She started trembling again at the thought. "I.. I can't... you'll send me back. I CAN'T GO BACK!" She yelled beginning to breath rapidly. 

He quickly sat on the bed and pulled her into his lap, she started to fight but she was too weak. She knew she shouldn't yell at him. One wrong move and his anger would consume her. Yet, he sat holding her, stroking her hair gently trying to calm her. "Whoa whoa. Lacey, it's okay. You will never go back, do you hear me? I will never let them hurt you. Please, calm down." He rocked her and she breathed his scent in deeply. His calming voice soothed her. 

    She slowly let herself rest against his chest. After several minutes of trying to breath, she convinced herself to believe his words. She took a deep breath and whispered "M..my... Alpha" He pulled her back and looked into her eyes, eyebrows drawn. "Why? Why would your alpha do this?" She teared up thinking about how long she asked herself that very question. Honestly, she finally just accepted that it was how things went in her pack. She fully accepted that she was made for his pleasure only. "He owned me. When I was 3, he moved me into the pack house. He didn't have a mate to use, so he used me." At that, Lukas began to shake. His voice became even deeper than she knew possible. 

    "What do you mean he didn't have a mate to use so he used you? What did he use you for?" She pulled away, fearing his anger. "When... when he... got mad or frustrated.. He didn't... he didn't have a mate to punish...so he took me to punish for his anger..." He stood up shaking harder. His breathing became rapid. "What the f**k do you mean? He would just torture you when he was angry? He thought that was okay, to punish mates? Was he the only one?" She looked up at him scared and confused. "The only one? Yes, he was the only one to use me. The other wolves had mates to use." He stopped and turned to her. She instantly dropped her eyes, trembling. "Was this the whole pack?" He hissed. "Isn't... isn't that the way? He always said.... that was the way it worked with wolves. Aren't you...." She hesitantly looked at him with tears in her eyes "Aren't you going to use me now?"

*Lukas*

    Every word coming from his mates mouth made him want to rip whatever alpha it was into pieces. How dare a pack alpha teach these ways? To start abusing a child and teach them that was life everywhere! To allow for his men to abuse their mates! Mates were meant to be cherished as another part of your own body. Protected and loved, not used and abused. When he heard her final words, that knocked the air out of him. He suddenly understood why his mate cowered when he was near. She thought he would do what this bastard had done to her. He wanted nothing more to wrap her up his arms and never let go. She was so broken. He just wanted to heal every part of her soul.

     He slowly approached the bed and sat down. She still looked terrified. He kicked himself for allowing her to see his anger. "Lacey, I am so sorry. I did not realize..." He shook his head and took a deep breath pushing back his anger. "Little one, that is not the way mates are to be treated. In this pack and most, mates, especially our females, are respected, protected and loved. We treat our mates as an extension of our own bodies. I don't want to hurt you in anyway. I only wish to love you" He watched as her eyes widened at his words. 

    He just wanted to feel her beside him. "May I hold you?" He asked carefully. She slowly nodded yes. His heart raced. The alpha took off his shoes and pulled her to him laying them both down facing each other. Her body remained tense next to him. He stroked her hair and when she began to relax, he kissed her forehead. He moved his hand to her cheek and stroked it. She parted her lips slightly. He could feel her desire but he was afraid to scare her or make her feel forced in anyway. "Lacey, You are my mate and I hope one day you will be comfortable enough to let me mate and mark you.." He noticed her breath catch at that "but I will not do anything, not even a kiss, until you are completely ready.  I am yours and when you are ready, I want you to be mine" He felt her shift slightly and he stared into her eyes until he saw them flutter as she gently put her lips on his. He fought to keep his wolf from rising up and making he push further. He enjoyed the softness of her lips and followed her pace. She pulled back and gave an embarrassed smile to which he chuckled. Then she settled her tiny frame against him and she fell asleep. His heart melted watching her breath. He was shocked she relaxed enough with him to sleep. 

    A soft knock came at the door and Dr.Reid entered and quickly noticed Lacey sleeping. She quietly told the Alpha that Lacey would be able to move from the hospital room to the pack house as long as she has someone to assist her with tasks until she was stronger. He nodded and linked Cole. "Cole, I need you to have one of the women set up the room next to mine for Lacey. She will need everything new. I also need 2 guards with her at all times and a woman to assist her with her needs daily." He hummed trying to think of anything else he might have forgotten. "Yes, Alpha. Do we know who did this to her?" He fought his anger back down. "All she said was her Alpha but no name yet. I will meet you in my office in an hour. We need to find out who this is." He knew he would have to eventually ask the name of her tormentor. Whoever it was, they would not get away for the pain they has caused his mate. 

     He watched his mate resting peacefully until he could no longer put off leaving. He slid her out of his arms and grinned at the pout on her face when he got up. He couldn't help but hope that his mate would be able to open up to him and soon. He made sure the guards on post knew not to allow anyone in the room, aside from the designated hospital staff before making his way back to the pack house.

    "What kind of f****d up pack would do that to their mates?" Cole asked angrily. "I don't know but we need to find out before they find us. I have a feeling if she was being kept specifically for the Alpha, her leaving has not gone unnoticed" Beau, the Gamma of the pack, said shaking his head. Lukas' heart started pounding and his wolf let out a growl thinking of someone trying to come take his mate. "I will find out if she knows his name or even the pack's name. From what I have seen, he kept her heavily sheltered. He never let her know her own last name for goddess sake." he gritted his teeth hard. 

        " There is another part of this we need to discuss. We need to get the other women and children away from this pack." The room was silent at this. Cole was the first to break the silence "Lukas, do you really think it is something we need to get into? I understand the principal but that's basically declaring war on a pack we don't even know." He growled looking at his beta. "Do you question our abilities, Cole?" Cole sighed shaking his head. "Man, you know it isn't like that. I just want to make sure you are thinking clearly. Again, I understand the reason. As your beta, I will follow whatever you decide 100%. As your best friend though, I gotta make sure that you are sure of your decisions" He huffed. It was his own damn fault letting Cole question him. They have been best friends since birth. As much as he hated to admit it, Cole usually was the level headed one, while Lukas was the one going over war plans at the drop of a hat. The truly balanced each other.

    "I am. I can't turn a blind eye to anyone being treated the way Lacey was. Once we figure out who it is, we will prepare the pack warriors and gather a plan to extract the women and pups" Cole sighed and nodded. "I will notify Jax so he can ramp up training for the warriors." Beau said standing up to leave. "Great, just make sure he doesn't say anything to any of the others yet. I want to wait until we have more information before we put anybody else on edge" He agreed and left to find Jax. 

"How is Lacey doing?" Lukas shook his head. "Terrified. There is one part I left out about what she told me. She asked me if I was going to use her, like he did" He gritted his teeth and looked over at Cole who was seething. "No one will hurt her here. Least of all you! Those bastards... they've screwed her up so much she can't even trust her f*****g mate." For a moment he questioned why Cole was so angry but quickly brushed it off, knowing his men were protective of all of the women. "I'm going to go check on her and bring her back to the pack house. Can you make sure her room is ready please?" Cole stood and walked to the door. "Hey Luke, if you need someone to help protect our Luna, I'd be happy to help." Lukas nodded. "When she is strong enough, I'm going to take her into town to shop for some things. I'll let you know when" With that Cole let the room. He closed his eyes for a moment. The fact he hadn't slept since they found Lacey yesterday wearing on him. 

Before he could fall asleep in his chair, he got a mindlink from Cole. "Lacey is awake and asking for you". He couldn't contain the smile and the feeling of hope that his mate was warming up to him already. "On my way" he linked back and quickly made his way to the pack hospital.

*Lacey*

    Lacey woke up expecting to see Lukas but found an empty room. Her arm that had been wrapped around his warm body was now draped over a pillow. She slowly sat up, feeling stronger than she had in weeks. She tried to stand by herself and nearly fell. Holding on to the end of the bed, she took a second to allow her legs to get used to her weight again before walking into the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and shook her head at her disheveled appearance. She picked up the comb and brushed out her blonde hair. If there was anything she learned while she was slave to the Alpha, is was how to make herself look beautiful. He would often order her to clean up, fix her hair and make up, and wait in his room naked. She shivered thinking of what followed and tried to clear that out of her mind. She fixed her hair straight with curls at the bottom. She found the make up that Kate had left for her. She kept it natural trying to bring out her blue eyes and pink lips. She picked out a baby blue lace bra and panty set and covered herself with a short black T shirt dress. 

    She walked out of the bathroom towards the bed. "Lacey, how are you feeling?" She jumped at the voice before turning to see the handsome blue eyed man standing at the door. "Uhm.. I'm ok..." She squeaked to the beta. He quickly realized they had not been introduced. "I'm sorry, forgive me. I haven't exactly introduced myself. I'm Cole. I'm the beta of the pack and Lukas' best friend. I... uhm... brought you here.... from the cells" She remembered slightly being carried in a strong pair of arms as she slipped out of consciousness. "Oh.. uhm... thank you.." She blushed. "What are you doing up? Do you need anything? I'd be more than happy to get you anything" She thought she saw a slight blush on his face but it was quickly gone. "Oh, I was just waiting for the Alpha...uhm I mean.. Lukas. Do you know where he is?" 

    Cole nodded and she noticed he was mind linking someone. "He said he is on his way. Can I get you anything, Lacey?" She shook her head, blushing hearing her name on his lips. "No, thank you. I will just wait for the Alp... Lukas. Thank you" Cole nodded. "Do you mind if I wait with you?" Lacey shook her head and sat on the chair close to the bed. Cole sat in the chair on the other side of the room. "Lukas has arranged for a room to be prepared for you. Some of the women are preparing it for you. He has sent for clothes and necessities as well. When you feel better, we can take you into town to shop for some items you want." Her eyes widened. "He didn't.. you all... I don't need anything. You have all been so kind to be already. I couldn't impose any further" She said looking at the floor. She felt Cole walk over and kneel in front of her. "Hey, Lace, listen. You will be taken care of here. Lukas, he will give you the life that you should have had. You will never want for anything again. I have known Lukas since we pups in diapers and I promise, he will stop at nothing to show you how much he cares." She blushed hard thinking of her alpha mate. 'MY...mate.' It hadn't fully hit her that she had a mate. 

Just then, something he said earlier about preparing her a room hit her. Before she could ask, he had stood up and walked over and opened the door. Just a moment later, Lukas walked in the door. She stood up and bowed my head to meet him properly, as she had been taught. She felt his hand gently lift her chin to make her look at him. "Little one, what are you doing?" he questioned with a raised brow. "B..bowing, s..sir." she stuttered. He gently stroked her cheek. "You do not have to bow to me, little one. And you definitely do not have to call me sir" he said, chuckling at the last part. He slowly leaned to place a kiss on her forehead. Her initial reaction was to pull away, but as soon as his lips touched her skin, the small sparks just brought her a peaceful feeling. 

"I'm going to make sure the room is ready for when you guys get home" Cole gave a small wave and walked out, leaving her alone with the alpha. She was quickly reminded that she would be living with the alpha.She knew even though her mate was different that her previous Alpha, there were things expected of her. s*x was on of them. She tried to mentally prepare herself to meet his expectations. 

She held out her hand to him. He took it and followed her to the bed to sit down. "Lacey, you look beautiful." She blushed and smiled. "Thank you, si...Lukas" She said. Before he could say anything she took off the black dress revealing the baby blue lace bra and panties and turned to him straddling him. "Lacey.. you don't.." She put a finger to his lips and took a deep breath. "I'm prepared to fulfill my duty as your mate" She leaned in and kissed his lips.

The kiss was gentle for a moment before she started increasing the intensity. The Alpha matched her movements and soon was kissing her with fervor. She felt his tongue on her bottom lip and she opened allowing his tongue to slip against hers. She tangled her hands in his hair and he gripped her waist. She pulled away to take off her bra when he grabbed her wrist stopping her. "Lacey," He whispered breathlessly. "You don't have to do this" She stared into his brown eyes with her eyebrows drawn. "You are my mate, I'm supposed to keep you satisfied" He leaned in a kissed her forehead. She tried to connect their lips again, but he pulled away. "Making you comfortable and happy is what satisfies me. little one"

Tears welled up in her eyes. She had never had someone who cared for her the way this Alpha was. She wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder. "Thank you" She whispered against his neck as a tear slipped down her cheek. He rubbed his hand on her back softly. The tingling of her back made her core wet, but she knew she wasn't ready. "Little one, Dr.Reid is releasing you. I am going to move you into the packhouse... today" She nodded against him. 

She slowly lifted her head. "Will I be... sleeping... in your room?" She asked not meeting his gaze. "Not until you are ready, little one. I have had a room beside mine set up for you. I don't want you to be too far from me, but I want you to be comfortable." She couldn't help but smile as it felt as her chest was swelling with happiness. This man, her mate, her alpha mate, was so considerate of her. She didn't know why, but she thanked the moon goddess he seemed to be nothing like her previous alpha. 

After another couple hours, a few more blood test, and paperwork, Lacey was on her way to her new home. She couldn't help but smile to herself at the word, home.
