*Lacey* I ran as fast as my paws could take me. My heart was pounding in my chest. Everything muscle in my body ached with each jolt of my legs. My lungs felt like they were on fire. It felt as though any minute, my body would give up, but I couldn't stop. I knew if I did, I would be dragged back to a life that made me beg for death. My senses were weak. I didn't even realize I had entered a pack territory until a large grey wolf knocked me off my feet from the side. We rolled a second before he stood snarling at me, as if he expected me to fight back. I simply whimpered and stayed on the ground with my head down. I had no fight left. My breathing got harder. I saw him cautiously approach me before I felt my body shift back. I heard another voice but I was unable to open my eyes. I felt a pair of strong arms lift me as I faded into the darkness.  I don't know how long I was out. I slowly started to hear voices around me. The smell of death and decay flooded my nose. I started to become aware of the pain in my body. There was a new pain around my wrist and ankles. I tried to move away from the burn only to feel it get worse and a weak cry escaped my lips. I was too weak to scream though that was the only thing I wanted to do. I couldn't feel my wolf anymore. I feared that I had been found. That thought made my stomach clench. I couldn't go back. I heard a voice close to me as I opened my eyes to see a man with light brown hair pulled up in a messy bun and piercing light blue eyes. His tanned skin was pulled tight over his large muscles and his sharp jawline lined with stubble like he hadn't shaved in a week. He didn't say anything, just stared at me. Tears formed in my eyes and I mustered up every bit of energy I had left to utter three words. "Please kill me" and with that I faded back into the darkness. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Alpha Lukas Black* I received the mindlink from my Beta, Cole, just as I entered the borders of my pack land. "We had an intruder on our land. Jax intercepted on patrol" I narrowed my eyes at that. We haven't had any intruders in a while. Most wolves don't dare to mess with us, except the rare rogue. We were one of the largest packs in the country. "Hold him until I get there. I want you to be there when he wakes up and try to find out what he wants. I will be there soon" As I started wondering who the attack could be from Cole linked me back with words that stopped me in my tracks. "It's a she". Why was a lone she wolf on our grounds. In our pack, she wolfs are highly respected and protected. it is usually seen as unfit for one to go outside our borders without a few guards. I knew not all packs were like this though and for all I knew she was just another filthy rogue.  I went to my room and changed out of my work suit and into some casual clothes before going to the kitchen to grab a drink. I couldn't help but wonder about this she wolf in my cells. As I started to head out the door I received another link from Cole "Alpha. She woke up, but only for a moment. She is extremely weak and appears to not have eaten in weeks." I hummed to myself. I was sure she was just a rogue who probably crossed unknowingly into their lands, maybe hunting some food.  Even so, we had to interrogate. No intruder left without at least being interrogated and warned. Though most would heed our warning, few were brave, or dumb, enough to return and for that they paid with their lives."Alright. I am on my way. Did she say anything while she was awake?" I started running towards the north border furthest from our packhouse where we kept our cells to detain prisoners when he replied with words that stopped me dead in my tracks. "She said 'Please kill me' " For some reason, my wolf was very uneasy at this. 'Luke, If we don't get her to the pack doctor, she won't live to be interrogated.' I felt the concern from him through the link. 'Take her to the pack hospital and don't leave her side. I will head that way. I will let doc know we are coming'  I stripped down and shifted making my way to the other side of the territory. 'Jax, I need report on the she wolf you found today' I linked as I began to run. 'Alpha, she crossed the northern border. I hit her from the side. She showed no signs of aggression. She actually appeared scared. She involuntarily shifted before Cole arrived and she then passed out. He carried her to the cells. She is small and weak, though she doesn't appear to be rogue. Her eyes were blue, not red and she did not smell like a rogue'. I couldn't help but wonder what her eyes looked like. I shook my head. What is wrong with me today! As I neared the hospital, my wold grew anxious. I prepared to meet this wolf and I was determined to find out why she had entered my territory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Lacey* Once again, I felt myself coming out of the darkness I had so comfortably drifted in. This time I was not met with the smell of death and decay, but rather disinfectant. I heard no voices but a steady sounding beeping. I tried to move and this time I did not feel the burning pain I had felt before, though the rest of my body still ached. I still couldn't feel my wolf and my heart ached at that. I knew she was also weak from all that our body had been through and I haven't eaten in days and the meals I received before were barely enough to sustain any strength. I felt a presence in my room. At first the presence felt calming but I couldn't help but feel the fear grip in my chest the more aware I became. Just as I felt my breath speed up, my nose was wrapped in the most calming scent. Instantly I felt my breathing relax and I just wanted to get closer to that smell. Within a few seconds, it was gone and I thought I must have imagined it. Maybe my mind was tricking my body into thinking that we were safe. Why after all these years it would do that was beyond me.      I slowly fluttered my eyes open and was met by bright lights. I moaned as I lifted my weak arm up to block the light out of my eyes. I saw a movement out of the corner of my eyes and saw the same man from before stand next to my bedside. If my fear had not been so great, I would have been entranced by his appearance. His blue eyes were strong, but they seemed to soften as they met my gaze. However, all I could think about was how I had stumbled upon another pack territory. The wolf beside me was easily a high ranked wolf, but not an alpha. Maybe a Beta? My breathing once again picked up as tears formed in my eyes fearing what he would do to me. He reached out to touch my hand and I jerked it back quickly as the tears began to fall. "No, please! Please don't hurt me. I'm sorry, please" My body shook and the beeping on the monitor grew louder and more frequent as my heart rate became erratic. "Hey whoa, calm down! Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you" He said in a smooth deep voice but I couldn't control my body. The images of my past flooding back. I can't take any more. He turned to the door and yelled a couple of names before turning to me. I saw a look of concern in his eyes. Just then a woman in a white coat, rushed in and put something the IV I didn't realize was in my arm. I slowly started to calm but the tears still flowed down my cheeks. They stayed for several minutes comforting me. I was amazed looking at the doctor and nurse around me. They were female. They appeared healthy and bright, with calming voices and the occasional sympathetic smile. What caught my attention the most was the fact the did not seem to fear the large man in the room. How were they so at ease? Maybe they were given special treatment since they were the healers of the pack.     The door started to open as I was hit with the comforting smell from earlier. I heard a loud deep voice yell out "What is going on?" before his face came into view. He was clearly an Alpha by the way his presence dominated the room and his large stature. He was about 6'6 with Dark brown almost black hair and dark brown eyes. He was tan and his muscles looked as though they would bust out of the black t shirt he was wearing. Everything about him was intimidating. I ducked my head at his voice but couldn't take my eyes off of him. When he looked at me, his eyes darkened even more than I thought possible and his growl caused me to whimper back before he said the word I feared more than anything. "MATE!"      NO! NO NO! It can't be. I can't. Felt all the air knock out of my chest and my tears flowed harder. I knew my life was over. When she wolfs found their mates, they became their mate's property. The were used for pleasure and to bare as many pups possible, often killing the she wolves when their body produced more than it could bare. Alpha's were known to be especially bad, as their desire to leave an heir and a legacy fueled them to create as many offspring as possible. My body had already been wrecked and I would not survive the birth of a pup. If I could not carry a pup, my mate would kill me and find another she wolf to give him an heir. I was jerked back to reality when the alpha started walking towards me. He reached out to touch me and a flinched back. "Please, no!" I cried unable to handle his touch. This was it. I was going to die.
