I pull my hands back as though surprised at the surge of current that coursed through my body at her touch. She had saved me and perhaps for the second time but history had told me that no one did anything without a motive so I still had to be wary. I could not trust just anyone, even my mate. In fact, it was especially for this reason that I could not trust her blindly. The fact that she was my mate did not mean that she could not betray me. Therefore, until I was sure of what I was dealing with, I had to keep my distance.
