Rita It was dinnertime already and I was prepping the vegetables I had picked from our garden. The kitchen was about to be busy with omegas running around to get dinner ready. I was soaking in the quietness before the bustle. The day had been smooth overall and I expected dinner to be the same. I missed working in the kitchen full-time sometimes, but I was grateful for being able to work at all. My story wasn't anything special. I was abandoned and grew up between packs as an orphan. By the time I was able to shift, I had run away. At first, I'd stay in human towns, exchanging household labor for shelter and frequenting food pantries to eat. It wasn't too bad.
