Knight’s POV I was mad—so mad that for the entirety of that ride to Aria’s place, I didn’t look at her or even say a single word. I wasn’t mad at her. I don’t even think I could ever be. Instead, I was mad at myself—that I let it get to this. I could have dragged us out of there the moment I saw how the waiter was looking at her, but because I let things slide, he had the audacity to utter such trash about her. Buying that place and ending his career was me showing some sort of mercy—only because Aria was with me. I didn’t want to scare her away by doing too much too soon, but judging from the last look she gave me when she yelled at me to stop earlier, I think I still managed to scare her anyway.
