We had a two-story house my parents build that house when they had around 21 years old , the house had 3 bathroom, 3 toilets and 7 rooms , we had maids and i used to have a nanny who looked after me i will always remember her name , her name was "MARY" i always wondered what happened to her is she still life ? She used to live near our house at Vandermesh , my dad also had a van and a driver and his own shop Called "RALPHY TRADING" in Beau Bassin he used to sell Clothes for adults and tolders .
One day my dad decided to go and extend his business in Reunion Island i will briefly explain it to those who don't know where this island is , Réunion is a French overseas department and region in the western Indian Ocean, located east of Madagascar. Known for its volcanic landscapes, it is home to the active Piton de la Fournaise and the extinct Piton des Neiges mountains.
My dad left us and went there for months, and he had bought a small van and a two-bedroom apartment there, far from the comfort that we had in Mauritius .
I was 4 years old when my dad came back from Reunion island to Mauritius and announced to us that we were leaving all our comfort in Mauritius to immigrate to Reunion Island saying that we will have a better life style education and so on there .
I was sad leaving all the memories i had behind and my childhood friends i was really sad and couldn't stop crying i will always remember when me and my childhood friend called Nadjaah Mustun was sitting facing Vandersmesh (Vandermesh Beau Bassin" is likely a misspelling or misinterpretation of the town Beau Bassin-Rose Hill in Mauritius, a twin town located in the Plaines Wilhems District. The name "Vandermesh" is not associated with the town's official name, which is known for being a residential area with growing commercial activity, and the third largest city on the island.)
From our balcony since this we even though I came on vacation from time to time our friendship was no longer the same until now we have become almost strangers.
We left all our comfort and way of life behind I will always remember when my mom cried when we arrived in Reunion Island if I remember well it was in 2000 or 2001 January that we settled in Reunion Island .
My mom didn't like our new life style she was already used to have maid and people to look after us and a big house event when she was in the United Kingdom in Brixton her house was a 3 Story-House , but because of us and my father she accepted her fate despite the discomfort and the radical change of life it was not easy for us as for her especially at the level of the language barrier which is Reunion Creole , and french .
I will always remember when I said "ZiP" in french ( for Fermeture éclaire) and all' the children laughed at me thinking I was saying skirt when I had a dress on me this happened to me when I was in nursery school .
My dad had his family over who are half half Reunion Islander and Mauritian, more precisely my paternal grandmother's brother and his wife and children, they are deceased but their children and grandchildren are still in Reunion Island.
Let me be more precise we started first to stay at their house as my dad was using their address for administration purposes their house was located in La possession a town situated after the road of the littoral a very dangerous road located on The island .
When everything was in order we moved to the 2 flat room , not knowing that this house was going to be sold afterwards to return my dad's mother's money that she gave us to buy that flat .
After that we changed house to go and stay in a house that was previously a Chinese boutique , It had a long corridor. We separated this corridor with our parents wardrobe to make a space kind of bedroom for our parents and the order part was our space with three beds for me and my brother and sister.
After a while my dad covered the exterior corridor to make it become a shed and half the dining room and Kitchen after a time we had discovered that this place which we will call a house for us at that time was infested with rats and termites and had ghosts in it .
