chapter 63

The morning sunlight danced across the curtains, spilling golden warmth onto Amelia’s bare shoulder. She stirred slowly, her breath catching as her eyes adjusted to the light and to the quiet weight of Enzo’s arm draped around her waist. The intimacy of it, his presence wrapped around her like a secret only they could share, brought back the memories of last night: soft whispers, urgent touches, lips that sought more than just pleasure. But reality came rushing in like a tide. She slipped out from under his arm gently, the sheets falling away as she sat at the edge of the bed. Her feet brushed against the floor, cold grounding her. For a moment, she sat there still, her thoughts colliding. What now? Behind her, Enzo stirred. “You’re awake.” Amelia didn’t turn around. “Yeah.” A pause.
