The Kiss

1271 Words
We walked into the dining room together with Ismael and Jordan flanking me as if they were my bodyguards instead of my children. As we walk in, Jonah comes back from the washroom with Danny following behind. Danny looks at the boys looking to see if he still had to give Jonah the cold treatment or to be nice. He visibly relaxes a bit and moves to sit down and starts piling food onto his plate. We all take our sits and start eating and talking about our day. All four of the kids start asking Jonah questions about New York and why he moved to North Carolina instead ,of any other place in the planet. They asked why he left New York and pretty much interrogated him. When they were finally satisfied with the answers they received, they seemed to relax a little but they still watched Jonah. Dinner went better than I thought, and no one died which was a relief. The kids cleaned up the table and separated into their own thing, Jordan sat in the living room watching TV, Ismael went outside with Danny and Mariel went to her room to facetime her friends, Beth and Julie. Jonah and I went to the kitchen and while I did the dishes, Jonah sat across from me in one of the stools around the island. “So I hope you don’t mind me asking and if it is too personal you don’t have to answer” He says as I put the last dish in the drying rack. “Okay” I say, placing two glasses on the island I serve us some wine. “Is the kids’ father around?” he asked. “No” I answered. “Now I get it” he says taking a sip of his wine. “What do you get?” “I get why they are so protective of you and instantly wanted to kill me” he chuckles. His laugh was melodic and sexy, I felt my knees getting weak so I made my way around the island and sat on the stool closest to me. “My turn” I say pretending I don’t want to kiss him. “Shoot” “Why did you really leave New York? I know you told my kids that it was for a better job opportunity blah blah blah, but when you got here you were interviewing for jobs right?” I asked. “Can we go for a walk?” he asks. “Sure” We finished the rest of our wine and got our jackets, and right before we walk out the door Ismael comes in and looks at us. “I’m going for a walk; I’ll be back in a little bit.” I say and walk out. “It was nice to meet you guys” Jonah stretches his hand out to Ismael and Jordan who was now standing next to Ismael. They shake hands before Jonah can come outside I hear Ismael say “Maybe we can play some ball if you are ever around again” that completely shocked me and apparently it left Jonah stunned but he recovered after two seconds. “Definitely” he answered with a smile. They waited until we walked down a couple of houses before closing the door. “So about your questions” Jonah starts. “I just needed to get away from the circus that is my family…” he paused. “We all think our families are crazy” I say trying to reassure him. “…and I broke off my engagement to my ex about a year ago and it seems that no one but me seemed to let it go and forget about it.” He finished. “So you just picked up and just moved?” I ask. “Yeah it really got bad, and my family is not one to let things go so easily, I’m surprised my brother and sister haven’t found me yet honestly.” “I see” I say taking in what he is telling me. “Yeah is weird being so far from them, my family is very tight and me moving so far could seem like me abandoning them” “But you are an adult and you have to make your own life and decisions that are best for you, they will understand eventually” I definitely understood where he was coming from, my parents always tried to control how I lived, where I lived, how I raised my kids and everything. Jonah suddenly stopped walking. I walked back to where he was standing looking lost in his own thoughts. “Hey, you alright?” I asked looking up at him. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you by asking so many questions” I say. He seemed to snap out of his thoughts and stepped closer to me and without thinking about it, I reach my hand out and touch his cheek, caressing it while looking into his eyes. I noticed what I was doing and went to pull my hand back when suddenly he grabs my hand to keep it on his face, looking into my soul with those beautiful honey eyes. I feel his other hand on my waist and he pulls me against him and his face is only inches away from my own. I looked at him breathlessly and my eyes go to his full lips that are so close to mine. His hand moves away from mine and to my bottom lip, which I had not realize that I was biting and I gasped at the feeling of his thumb. Jonah leaned closer and kissed me softly and pulling back to look at me before kissing me again and this time deepening the kiss, as I kissed him back. His hands were around my waist but I wanted him touching all of me, I wanted him closer. I felt his hands go down to cup my ass and squeeze it before moving to my thighs and pulling me up on him, instinctively my legs wrapped around his waist. I felt my back hit something hard as we finally came up for some much needed air. Jonah started trailing kisses along my jaw, then down to my neck. My heart was thundering in my chest as felt my p***y get wetter, clenching in anticipation, when I heard a dog bark snapping me out of my daze and back into reality. I pushed on Jonah’s shoulders softly, needing some distance in order to think clearly about what I was doing. Jonah’s lips left my skin and immediately I wanted his mouth back on me but this needed to stop. Jonah’s beautiful honey eyes met mine and if it wasn’t because I was already on him, I would have definitely collapsed. Unwrapping my legs from around his waist, “we can’t do this” I said again pushing him once more. “I_ I’m sorry…I shouldn’t have done that” Jonah said catching his breath. “Is okay you are not the only one at fault” I said. “So, if I kissed you and you kissed me, and we both wanted it to happen….” Jonah let his words trail off. “I’m sorry, I can’t” I said while walking away not sure if he heard me. I start heading back to my house when suddenly I felt my shoulders being grabbed, stopping my stride. “Charlie…” Jonah whispers barely audible “don’t walk away”.
