Chapter 14: Virgin

1443 Words
“What???” Sienna swerved slightly as the question. The audacity to just come out and ask it straight flooring her. “I just wanted to know if you are a virgin?” “Oh, I heard what the question. I’m just unsure of why it’s relevant.” She said, slightly annoyed. “You just seem to avoid any human contact or intimacy.” Jaden replied. “We have been only been dating a week. Do you expect me to just strip my clothes off on a public beach?” She asked incredulously. “No, I just found it odd. You dislike touching and hugs, and every time we get close you pull away.” “I guess you are not used to girls who don’t just throw themselves at you.” she replied in a huff. Sienna pulled up next to the shelter where Brody and Stephen were waiting for them. Jaden opened the passenger door and climbed into the back seat behind Sienna. Stephen and Brody climbed into the now awkward silence between them. Sienna started driving away, Brody was eyeing her. “Sienna, you have sand all up in your hair.” He finally spit out. “You know me, I cannot resist an opportunity to roll in the sand.” Sienna said sarcastically, keeping her eyes on the road. “Okay then. Let’s just go back to our house.” Brody said dropping it. Upon arriving home, Sienna headed straight up to her room. She was over people for the day, just needed some time to think. She took off her shoes and climbed on top of the covers, dropping herself onto her stomach. She did not like the assumptions Jaden was making because she was not throwing herself at him. Maybe she was not ready to let someone in again. She had never been very good at letting people get to know her in the first place and after her last relationship she appeared even worse. Sienna was lost in her thoughts, running through what if scenarios and possible outcomes, when there was a knock at her door. “Come in.” Sienna said. Her room was pretty plan. Her walls were white with very little decorations, a few drawings, some softball medals hung off of hooks, and a few pictures with her best friend. Her bed consisted of a queen mattress and box spring on the floor. The blanket on the bed was a light pink quilt with butterflies her great grandma had quilted for her. She had a dresser on the wall next to her bed, with a TV, Nintendo Wii, and DVD player on top. She kept her room very tidy, with her clothes organized by color and season in the closet with the doors shut. She rolled onto her back to see who was at the door. Jaden stood in the doorframe. “What’s up?” she asked, sitting up slightly. She still was not really in the mood for conversation. “I wanted to make sure we are good.” Jaden said, looking down at his hands and then up at her. “I think you may have expectations of what other girls will give to you, and that is not going to be me. I think it would be best to drop the expectations.” Sienna said, still a little heated. “I know, I’m sorry. You are just different than other girls. I can’t read you.” He said, taking a step into the room. “You are right. I am different. If I pull away it is about me and knowing when I need it to stop for me. It isn’t about how much I like you. I am going to move in a relationship at a speed I am comfortable with. And if my pace bothers you then this will never work out.” Sienna said definitively. “I’m good. Can I get a copy of the timeline or?” Jaden asked joking. Sienna chucked a pillow at his head as hard as she could, which was pretty hard. Jaden laughed as it hit him. “Violent, my favorite.” He said, picking up the pillow and tossing it back to her. “I wouldn’t call it wise to give me ammo back.” Sienna said smiling, catching the pillow. “So, you never answered the question about being a virgin?” Jaden replied. “This again. I am starting to think you are obsessed with the idea of a virgin.” Sienna rolled her eyes and laid back against the bed. “Sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m not.” “Damn, I owe Stephen five bucks.” Jaden said, Sienna glared and readied herself to launch more pillows his way. “I’m joking, I’m joking. I wouldn’t bet on you.” “I was hoping you were smarter than that?” She said, putting the pillow back behind her head. “Depends on the day,” he said leaning against the doorframe. “Don’t you have to go home soon?” Sienna asked eyeing her watch. “Nope, I am staying the night. Your bed looks comfier than the couch.” He said jokingly, earning himself another glare. “Once again, kidding. Can we talk a little longer?” “You have to behave though.” Sienna said, Jaden smiled. “I’ll do my best. I want to understand you better. Tell me about your previous boyfriends, please.” Jaden said. “Heavy hitter questions tonight. If you want to know, take a seat.” Sienna sighed. Jaden climbed on the bed next to her so their bodies were parallel but not touching. He did grab her hand and started massaging circles again. “There is only one. We were both freshmen, we had English class together, and we would flirt like silly Freshmen do. We ended up becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. He was my first real boyfriend. He was a bit of a bad boy, getting suspended from school, and smoking cigarettes. Apparently, I have a type. I thought we were in love and the relationship could last a long time. My mom got her job here to give us a better life. I told him I would be moving when the school year ended and he broke up with me that day. We had been together seven months and he has not talked to me since.” “What a jerk!” Sienna just nodded. They sat in silence a bit. “So, he was your first and only real boyfriend. That’s who you gave your flower too?” Jaden asked, Sienna cringed. She did not think of it as a flower. “Yes, but I don’t really remember it.” Sienna replied. “What do you mean?” Jaden asked. “It was New Years’ eve. We’d been together like five months. We were hanging out at my Aunt’s house and he had stolen some vodka from his parents. I was blacked out drunk. I woke up and it was happening, he said I said I wanted too. I remember some pain, but not much else.” Sienna said, nonchalantly. Jaden was silent again. Finally, he spoke, “You know that’s r**e right?” “He said I told him I wanted it. I don’t think he would have lied.” Sienna said calmly, she had never thought of it any other way. “He’s a guy, of course there is a chance he lied. A big chance, mind you!” Jaden replied, sounding exasperated. “I never thought of it that way. I just always thought if he said I wanted it, I did.” Sienna replied. “Have you ever told this story to anyone else?” Jaden asked. “No. No one has ever asked before, and I’m not really someone who volunteers information up.” Sienna answered. Jaden wrapped his arms around her and held her against his chest. He smelled so good, and she felt like she fit perfectly in his arms. “That guy would be lucky to never meet me.” Jaden whispered into her hair. “You know I never thought of it as r**e. I don’t want your pity.” Sienna said, pulling slightly away from him to look at him. “I know I just feel like a first time both people should at least be conscious for.” Jaden said, pulling her close again. “High expectations, I see. I can’t take it back or change what happened. Was your first time all romantic and perfect?” Sienna teased. “Uhm, not really. It was with my ex, Ashley. It was the first time for both of us. We both wanted it, planned to do it, and then made it happen. Nothing fancy, not really romantic.” Jaden said simply. Sienna thought on it. “Why did you end it?” “Ashley was really clingy. She would hang all over me and her moods would swing. One day, she was talking about us getting married, the next she was threatening to break up with me. It just got so serious, and we are just teenagers. I wanted to have fun, and I just knew she wasn’t the one.” Jaden replied, running her hand through his hair. “You believe in the one?” Sienna asked curiously. “I think everyone has a soul mate. Some people just may have to take some time to find them.” Jaden said, then his lips found hers.
