Both were happy exiting the cinema. They decided to go home at around 8pm knowing that Lhan had to perform tonight.
While inside the car on their way home to Lhan’s, she asked instinctively. “Hey, are you going home or you’ll wait for me?”
Dunce raised his eyebrows annoyingly. “What did you say?”
Lhan did not know what she said that made him annoyed. As she repeated herself, she carefully studied her words, “I’m asking if you’re going home or you’ll wait for me.”
“Not that. What did you call me?” Dunce would gave her a glance and looked back at the road ahead.
Lhan soon realized her mistake. She scratched her head, “Ahm...hey?”
“Yeah! Why did you call me hey? Before I became your boyfriend you at least called me by my name. Now it’s just hey?” Dunce waited for her refute but Lhan remained silent. “Call me love, honey, hubby, or sweetheart not hey or Mr. Dunce.”
With furrowed brows she said, “Isn’t that cheesy? You are too old for that. And I actually dont like it when you are calling me wife or wifey. My name is Lhan. Your name is Dunce so I’ll just call you by your name.”
“Then future wifey? Call me future hubby.” Dunce.
“Very long.” She answered shortly and pulled her phone.
“Babe or love. Both are short, you choose.”
“I’ll call you bro you call me sis. No one called their mate that way and we will be the first. Aren’t I smart?” She said while looking intently on her phone.
Dunce slowed down and stopped at the road side.
“Lhan! Who am I to you and who you are to me? My girlfriend, my future wife. I dare you call me bro!” Dunce glanced at her as he spoke angrily.
“Yeah, yeah! I’ll call you love from now on. Stop getting mad.” She said unconcerned of his outburst.
“Who are you texting?” Dunce asked grumpily, feeling disregarded.
“I am not texting. I am playing.” Lhan corrected him not hinting Dunce annoyance.
“Playing what?” He raised his voice to show him he was annoyed.
“Hero’s Legacy, an online game. Shut up for a while, we are in the middle of war.” She patted him and continued, “Drive!”
Dunce grasped. This was the first time he was disregarded. But he still followed and drove the car.
“Instead of playing why don’t you take a rest? Why are the new generations so fond of playing games like that?” From time to time, Dunce was giving her glances and nags as she continued to tap the phone screen continuously.
“This will only take at least 15minutes. If we win, there might be a chance of getting a rare item. I can sell or trade rare items.”
“Where do you put all your money. I remember you telling me that you play an international e-games and can earn millions. You don’t wear expensive things, you don’t have expensive appliances except for that phone and computer of yours.” Curious, he couldn’t help himself asked. His annoyance was increasing.
Still focused, she answered nonchalantly, “I gave it to my parents, some are used to support my brother’s school expenses.”
Dunce paused for a second. He knew that she’s adopted so, he could not help but think that her adoptive family was milking her. “Is it impelled?”
“No. I forced them to accept it. They never considered me as outsider but instead treated me like their own.”
“That’s good to hear then.” Dunce felt a relief.
“Didn’t you say before that you want to try things that I like? Do you want to try?”
“Can you drive?”
Lhan stared at him and shook her head like . “No.”
“Then I can’t.”
The two were conversing more like father and daughter instead of a couple.
Lhan rolled her eyes. “Ahhh, so, this is what they say that men’s words are not to be trusted when courting.”
Dunce slowly parked the car at the nearest parking bay again and adjusted his seat. He positioned himself like hugging her from behind and hold her phone from both sides.
“What are you doing?” Lhan paused from playing and side-glanced at him.
“Now I’m interested to play. Teach me.” Dunce said while smiling smugly at her.
Lhan looked at him for a moment. Then she said softly. “I can’t teach you.”
“Why?” Dunce questioned with one eyebrow perked.
Lhan grabbed his right arm and put it on her chest. “Can you feel that? My heart is beating so fast.”
Fazed by her action, Dunce instinctively withdrawn his arms and hastily fixed himself in his own sit. He held the stirring wheel and bumped his forehead on the upper side of the steering gear. He was trying to intimidate her but his plan backfired.
“Are you okay?” Lhan asked hesitantly when Dunce kept silent a little longer.
When Lhan put his hand on her chest, unavoidably, he touched her cleavage and felt that it was soft. That alone made his heart pumped hot blood and was distributed in his thousand of nerves bringing lusts in every cells of his body.
Dunce heaved several deep sighs first before he faced her, “Don’t do that again, okay? Especially to other people.”
“Don’t worry I don’t feel this way when I am with other people. I only feel this way when I am with you.” Lhan declared with certainty.
“What will I do to you!” Dunce shook his head and went back to driving the car. ‘Damn! This wild bunny surely can seduce innocently. Doesn’t she know twitter-pated?’ He thought.
Confused of his actions, Lhan didn’t know how to answer his question so, she geared her focused back to her mobile phone and continued playing the games.
Unfortunately, she and her team lost because she paused for a long time leaving the others no support as they attacked the other team.
“Lost.” She blurted out unintentionally without displeasure then kept her phone back after leaving a message to her team refusing to play a second game as they drew closer and closer to Lhan’s place.
Dunce affectionately consoled her, patted her head and caressed her hair with his right arm while the other continue to control the steering gear. He then intertwined their hands as he continued to drive. Lhan on the other hand enjoyed herself gazing at the scenery of district lights until they arrived at their destination.
Dunce didn’t get out of the vehicle as he received a call from Leif reminding him of his business meeting.
Dunce opened the window pane and bawled at her. “Don’t go to the bar alone. I’ll ask Leif to take you there. Once I’m done, I’ll go there directly.”
“I’m fine. Don’t worry I’ll take care of myself. I know self-defense.” Lhan assured her.
“No. You will wait for him.” He insisted.
She didn’t refuse but gave him a disapproving look.
“Go in.” He added.
“Sure. Take care then.” Lhan didn’t argued anymore so he could leave right away and not to further delay him from his business.
Dunce drove away back to his place and meet Leif.
As soon as Leif saw him, he briefed his boss about the meeting and the VIP who they were going to meet while heading to the boardroom.
As he sat on his designated chair, he gave the report a quick scan. His phone alarmed prompting him ready himself to pick Lhan while in the middle of checking the figures and charts written in the files they provided him.
“Aunt Mia, will you please join the Directors later in meeting our visitors today.” He glanced at his middle-aged secretary and then instructed Leif as well. “Leif, drive Lhan to her work.”
“Oh! Lhan is the name of your girlfriend?” Aunt Mia’s words were more of a declarative rather that a posed question.
“Sir! So, you finally received her yes?!” Just like Aunt Mia, his tone was more of a confirmation. Leif was buoyant hearing such a good news.
“You’ve seen her?” Aunt Mia asked Leif out of curiosity.
“You just don’t know, Aunt Mia. Ms. Lhan is quite beautiful, prettier than most actress. She is also a good girl, intelligent and a very honest one.” Leif described her excitedly.
Both Dunce’ Assistant and Secretary were happily conversing about Lhan but they were scolded lightly afraid that Leif would be late. “When did you become a gossip king. Aunt Mia, please don’t tell my mom about this yet. She’ll scare her away.”
Dunce reminded her although he knew seventy percent Aunt Mia would disclose this info to his mother. He was just hoping she wouldn’t force her to get married instantly.
“Sure, Sure!” Aunt Mia agreed smilingly but as Dunce guessed, definitely an action-considered-done was hidden behind those smiles.
“Leif, go now. Don’t be late. I’ll deduct your bonus if she left without you.” Dunce castigated as he saw that Leif is not yet leaving.
“But how about the meeting?” Leif worried a bit.
“Aunt Mia is here with me.” He answered and read the report again.
Leif left as Dunce instructed.
Soon their visitors arrived. After changing greetings and pleasantries, they looked for Leif as he was the one who made a coordination with the company. Dunce answered politely and calmly, “I sincerely apologize. I asked him to do a very important errand for me.”
The visitors accepted his explanation without feeling disrespected. Anyway, it was the company CEO who personally explained and apologized.
Aunt Mia was however glad seeing some changes in Dunce attitude. ‘So this boy knew how to use the word apologize. Very Interesting.’ She thought.
As Aunt Mia couldn’t hide her glee, she whispered to Dunce, “I am now intrigued to meet Lhan.”
Dunce just smiled at her discreetly.
