Greg's POV Both Maxen and Larry took a quick step back. They knew that look. They had seen it before, and they knew to tread carefully when I was like this. Maxen raised his hands with his palms facing out in a calming gesture. “But they didn’t find out,” he said quickly, his voice steady but cautious. “We… I mean she changed the topic.” The room fell silent for a beat as the words sunk in. My anger only intensified. I clenched my fists, trying to rein it in, but the thought of Aurora running her mouth when I had explicitly told her to keep quiet set my blood boiling. “How dare she?” I hissed, more to myself than to them. “After I warned her… after I told her not to say a damn thing about the kidnap!” I slammed my fist down on the desk again, hard enough to make the surface tremble.
