It should never have gone this far; I wouldn't have knowingly put Kate's life in danger, not for one minute.
Every operation has its threats and risks, of course, but I really thought we had every angle covered. I honestly believed that we would get a lead from the sting, and that the fucker would be in custody by now.
I never envisaged that we would screw up and that he would get the opportunity to harm Kate.
I wouldn't have taken that risk. I like her; she's young and talented with a bright future ahead. I'd wanted to help progress her career; I could see the passion in her eyes for the truth. It's my actions that have put her on a dangerous path, and right now, I have no way of knowing where it will lead.
