Chapter 1 — Present “f**k! I didn't think he had such a strong punch,” The metallic taste of blood overwhelmed Ronnie’s mouth when he joined his friend back at the bar, where Mason had been drinking alone for a while now. “I can see, things didn't go well,” as if it were some common occurrence, the other man said casually, checking the salon before his eyes went to Ronnie, turning his body around to lay his cup on the counter. “What did you say to him?” “That if he had been a good- forget that!” The unfinished words said by the younger make was that if his partner had been a good ‘f**k’, he would have called him again. Nevertheless, he didn't need to say those things to Mason; he knew he already had them in mind when he asked his previous question. … their friendship could be quite fresh compared to Ronnie’s other friends, yet his coworker Mason seemed to get him better than anyone else in those last few years… “And why did you ask what I told him? Maybe he was the one who got frustrated for being unable to put a leash on me and have this all to himself.” Showing off his muscular body, Ronnie had a smirk on his face as if there wasn’t any possible way that Mason could argue back against him. He actually could, but his laugh was more painful for Ronnie to hear than anything else he could say back to him. “D'Alberto, when will you learn your lesson? Why make things complicated when you just want something casual?” Mason’s gaze was looking far ahead into the venue at someone else across the place, holding his glass up in a speechless invitation to his match for tonight. “One-night stands are all we need if you don't want to end up killed someday by one jealous lover, you weren't even aware of having.” The nasty expression on his face left no doubt to Ronnie that his friend wouldn't leave the nightclub alone once again… That wasn't the first time this sort of situation happened when both friends went out for a night together. Bar, clubs, parties… Any possible event with space for flirting was Mason’s playground. The man, who was one year older than Ronnie and slightly taller as well, knew his charms very well with his dark coal-like hair and blue eyes. He had taken part in bodybuilding competitions in the past in the Men’s Physique division for a couple of years before he decided to just keep it as a hobby. In other words, Mason looked more than fine that no man or woman would think about rejecting him when he approached them for a casual night. “… lucky bastard…” Ronnie wasn't bad-looking either, but he was very aware that he wasn't as charming as his friend to easily approach someone else like that. … both of them could be extroverted, but the younger one would always be the one called annoying by their possible partners on their nights out… Mason was a natural flirting soul, eager to always find the best partner for his adventures, and it was one of the things Ronnie hated about the other male due to his jealousy as he watched him from afar… “Lucky bastard, he scored another one.” The taste of his beer was more bitter than usual when Ronnie murmured it to himself, watching how another man approached Mason and his target, quickly flirting his way in between them. He was so small that Ronnie found himself thinking about how his friend would easily crush the poor guy during a make-out session. Even his arms… they were like wooden sticks, and it would just take a finger for Mason to break them by mistake when he was three times bigger. … and it was the other thing that Ronnie was jealous of Mason… People would just approach him naturally when they saw him flirting with someone else. It was weird, but somehow attractive how they all fought for Mason’s attention, as if he was some sort of King who they should admire and conquer. Twinks usually loved him, and it wasn't any surprise to Ronnie due to his friend’s strong Daddy vibes. It all just made sense, and it was very natural to the younger man that they were attracted to his friend, but it didn't mean he knew why Mason would flirt back with them when they wouldn't ever be able to handle him. “They will not last two minutes with him in bed…” Talking to himself, Ronnie commented, checking Mason’s muscles out… thinking how he was bigger than the other guys, but no longer had the same defined muscles as his friend had. “… maybe I should go back to the gym.” Those casual remarks were spoken as he asked for another drink at the bar counter, not thinking much over anything as he recalled how he hadn't stepped a foot into a gym since he moved out. Ronnie no longer felt it was needed since he left his father’s place, as if it had also removed from him the desire to fit in. … the standards were so high, yet he always felt he needed to fulfill them, even if no one had ever expected him to be like them… “The King has already left you alone for tonight?” Ronnie’s thoughts about how he should call home soon, suddenly came back to the nightclub when he heard a familiar voice ask along with the hand touching his shoulder. Its owner was one of his longest casual flirts. They had hung out with him since he moved there and visited that place for the very first time before he even met Mason… or found out both men worked at the same company. He was also the one responsible for Ronnie’s and Mason’s friendship, as he was the one who introduced them to each other, although he had other plans in mind when he did so… “Yeah, he did… no one is loyal like you, Weston!” As he used a fake charm, pretending to be cute, Ronnie cuddled into the other man’s shoulder. “Come on, boy! You’re a little too big to act like a pup!” Yet, as someone who knew him well, Weston didn't fall for it. “Stop behaving like an oversized pup!” A couple of people, including the bartenders, laughed at that remark of Weston, but before anyone else could comment or say anything else to them, an unexpected noise brought all of their attention toward Mason once again. Everything was just too fast to understand what was going on when he pushed the men he had been flirting with since earlier out of his arms and got up while listening to someone on the other side of the line on his phone. It was all very chaotic as he dropped the device, crashing hard against the floor as Mason stepped over it in the rush to get out from there in a desperate manner.
