PROLOGUE

He lay her dead body on a stainless steel bed inside the morgue. Her face was deformed and there were lots of bruises on her body. She was also naked and she was hard to recognize. She looked so awful and he couldn’t imagine the torture and pain she went through at the hands of her murderer. He firmly closed his hands in a fist and closed his eyes before heaving a deep sigh. “Will you not get in trouble by doing this?” an old lady asked him whilst looking at the woman’s dead body. “I won’t if you keep this thing between us,” he answered and caressed the woman’s hair. “We will let her take a rest and preserve her body. My venom will soon spread all over her veins the moment her heart starts beating again,” he continued, and stared at the woman. “Why are you doing this for her though? For what? Who is she to you?” the old lady asked again, curious of his motives and his connection with the woman he just brought in. “She’s very important to me.” Is what he only answered. “You know it’s against the rules to interfere or to get involve with mortals. The Elders won’t let it pass once they find out about this.” The old lady asked, because she was scared and at the same time worried that the Elders will know and they will be screwed. “Will you help me or not?” he asked eagerly. The old woman sighed and exhaled. “Alright, come with me.” She motioned him to carry the dead body and to follow her. In a wall, the lady pressed something and the big metal wall made some weird noise— a clanking sound of metals— and it moved. Dust were all over the place after the small metal door was opened. There were torches hanging on the side of the hall way that serves as their light way in. “Follow me.” She motioned again and picked a torch from her side and then they went inside. He only followed her till they reached a laboratory and he was mesmerized by what he saw. Must be a secret lab from ages ago. He uttered in his mind. “I know what you’re thinking. This place was built before World War II. Russian made this bunker before the war started and only few people knew about this place. Over years, Russian consulate made this as a laboratory for bio-chemical warfare. Hence, they failed because there’s this scientist who accidentally poured something on the serum that created a massive biohazards all over the place. Everyone is dead except for a Spanish Countess who’s very selfish and self-centered back then.” The old lady’s voice toned down and averted her gaze as she held the torch firmly. She just remembered that hurtful past where she lost everything she had, including the person very dear to her. “Let me guess, that Spanish Countess was you, right?” he asked. He only knew the old lady for a decade. He didn’t even know where she’s been and how did she became as one of them. Not a bit of information he knows about her which is weird. She’s very mysterious for him. She just came to him one day and they became friend for some unknown reasons. They have this connection he cannot name. The old lady didn’t answer his question and put the torch in a standee near a capsule bed where they’re going to put the woman’s body inside late on. “She will be lying here for the time being and after the venom spreads out, the capsule will make her sleep for how long and her body will adjust and transform. That way, it will preserve her organs and other stuff then she will be fine.” The old lady explained as she settle the capsule and turned it on. “In old times, we call it a sleeping machine but now in new generations they call it Wanderbed. A bed where you can sleep for all eternity if you want and wander in your dreams. Just sleeping.” She explained again and opened the capsule door. “You can put her in,” she said and made way for him. He slowly lay her down on the Wanderbed and kissed her temple before fixing her hair and trail kisses from her forehead down to her face. After settling her in, he then let go of her and let her rest for the meantime. The old lady closed the capsule door and pressed something on it and a color blue light was on inside the capsule. The old lady faced him and gave him a look. A menacing look. “She’s a mate, isn’t she?” she straight-forwardly asked him. “She is,” he answered shortly still looking at the woman who’s already inside the capsule. “What’s her name?” she keeps on asking and this time he faced her. “Her name is…” he paused and examined her face. “…Monica.” And a smile appeared on his handsome face upon saying her name. “How long?” she asked again. “Ever since she existed in this world.” He answered with his eyes glistening and his lips sway in a beautiful smile. The old lady admired him for being so in love and staying in love for centuries with the same woman over and over again. She saw the sincerity in his eyes. A strange love that everyone would want. She have seen that look before. She also experienced what it feels like to be struck by that kind of stare. “I’ll leave her with you for now. Just let me know when she’s finally waking up.” The old lady got woken up from her reverie after the man spoke. She nodded her head and gave him a reassuring look. In a swift move, the guy disappeared and then the old lady smiled. She then shape-shifted to her original form after he left. She’s one of Elders. The most beautiful vampire empress ever existed. “Good thing you finally get into your senses. She will be an amazing newborn because of you, Deth. And I created you, my son.” The beautiful woman said and had her cheekiest smile.
