DETH came for the second hearing because the Volturi called him to go there. He didn't let Monica know or even his mother about it. It will be less of a worry for him if they're not involved.
At least, if they punish him, it will be just him and they don't have to be dragged along with him. He doesn't know why all of the sudden the Volturi called him out again. He's just hoping it's not about Daemeon because if they learn about their son, it will be over Deth. There will be no more chance for him to save them both.
