The sun-boy drifted through endless, blue-green sea. Drifted in and out of consciousness. His lips were cracked, his skin embalmed in salt crystals. He didn’t know how long he had been here. He only knew that whenever he struggled or tried to swim, he would sink. The nature of the water was thus. It would carry him only as long as he was still. He didn’t know where to find the sun-girl, he only knew that he loved her. That he had always loved her, even before the moment he met her. And that now, again, he had lost her. The water carried him until he no longer felt human, not a boy but a wave, indistinguishable from the ocean. As time flowed past, the water around him grew darker, blue-black like a bruise.
