He glared down at me, and I glared back at him. His jaw was clenched like he was irritated or mad for some reason. Both of his hands were inside his jeans pocket, and his mouth was into a scowl. I c****d my right eyebrow as I glared at him.
'Who does he think he is looking at me like that? And why is he here?' I thought.
After a while of our little "glaring contest". He decided to open his mouth.
"You are in my spot," he said in a very low deep voice. His voice was so intimidating, it almost made me flinch or shiver. But I didn't falter. I stood my ground, or this case seat, and glared at him.
I then turned my neck to look left and right, but this place was completely deserted. I then looked at him, and now he had a confused look on his face, replacing the glare he had on me earlier.
"Are you talking to me?" I said, my index finger directly pointing to myself. I just need to know, because I know he is not talking to me like that.
"You are the only person here, right?" he said in a low, deep voice. "That's if there are other people here. Which there isn't," he said. Then he leaned closer to me, but not too close. "I will say it again. You are in my spot." He said that last statement slowly, making it seem a little more intimidating. But he will have to do a lot more if he wants to scare me.
I then started to inspect the bench, looking at every single detail it had. But there wasn't anything out of the ordinary. It was just an ordinary bench.
"What are you doing?" he said in a deep voice. It still didn't hide the smallest portion of curiosity he had.
"Looking for a name, but I can't seem to find one," I said, looking through the seat. I then lifted my head to look at him. "By the way, what is your name," I asked innocently. Not at all taking on what type of situation I'm in right now.
"Adrien," he said bluntly.
"Yeah, well Adrien. I can't seem to find your name on this bench," I said to him. He only c****d his right brow in confusion. "Therefore, this seat isn't yours; unless you have some type of ownership documents, claiming that this is yours," I said, looking at him. He was still confused. It took him awhile for him to understand what I was saying, and I could only roll my eyes.
"Since when does somebody buy a seat," he said, clearly still confused. And I couldn't resist the urge to facepalm.
"I'm not moving from this seat," I said to him.
"But it’s my seat," he said again, leaning closer to me.
"I came here first," I said to him.
"I don't care," he said, leaning even closer.
"Well I do, and I'm not going to get up," I said at him. Our foreheads were now touching, and we were glaring at each other's eyes. Neither of us breaking the glare like it was a contest. Whoever moves loses.
"Are you sure about that?" he said glaring into my eyes.
"Positive," I said to him. He was about to say something until he got interrupted.
"Hey! What are you kids doing out here? The bell rang 5 minutes ago," yelled some guy. I wasn't paying any attention to him whatsoever. Then I averted my glare off Adrien and clicked my tongue in irritation. I then took my book and left for class.
~~~~~~oOoOo ~~~~~~
The school was finally over and now I was currently walking to Mel's house because I was bored on my own and I had nothing to do. Once I was on her porch, I knocked on her door and I was greeted by Mel's older sister, Ashley.
"Hunty!!!!" she screamed with excitement and bear-hugged me. "I missed you so much! How are you doing?"
"Hey Ashley, yeah me too, and I'm good," I said, returning the hug. I became a little suffocated because her hold on me got a little tighter. "Oh... Ashley......I.....can't.....brea-"
"Oh I'm sorry, I just got excited. And what have I told you about my name," she grinned like a maniac.
"Heh, I'm sorry Ashley bear. Heh heh," I said fearing for my life.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you guys. The reason because Mel's a boxing champion is that from generations-to-generations the Calderon family has been working with the government. They train the military forces. So, all of them know almost every martial art there is.
I know, scary right?
"Oh don't worry Hunty bear, I forgive you," she said, pinching my cheeks.
"So, you’re here, where's Dylan?" I asked. Dylan and Ashley are twins, and they go to college. So I figured if Ashley is here, that means Dylan is here as well.,
"Oh he's out with Mel," she said. Well, it looks like my plans to hang out with Melissa have failed. "Hey, wanna go to Taco Bell?"
"Sure, why not," I said and that's how my day went by.
Chapter 8: The Project
The school has been quite boring since Mel has been suspended.
Now since the little incident, I have been noticing Adrien a lot more. I have never noticed his presence until his little appearance on Britney's and Melissa's fight, and when he came claiming to be the place I have always been sitting at, is his spot.
Like calm down Sheldon Cooper! I sat here first.
I have noticed that every time I see him, he's glaring at me. I already know that he doesn't like me. But I don't exactly care because I don't like him either.
Right now, I'm currently writing an essay for my English class. The teacher assigned us to do an essay based on our desired future career paths. And like I decided, or want to become a vet. I'm writing about that. I was almost finishing until the teacher decided to give us a small announcement.
"If I could please have your attention, I would like to give you your project that needs to be done by the end of the semester." The teacher said while looking through some sheets of paper on his desk. "I will tell you next week the pairs for this project, and what this project is about. Although I still can't provide you information about your future partner’s name. I will only provide you with how this project will have consisted.
The project consists of only 2 people. The 2 people of my choosing will be based on your grades and understanding. For example, if you have the highest grades of the class, I will pair you up with the person that has the lowest grades. This method will allow both pairs to exceed your mental capacity and patience." The teacher explained and then we were dismissed for our next class. Or in my case history.
As I walked to my class, the only thing that I could think of is who will become my partner. There aren't that many people that are bad in Mr. Johnson's class, maybe just 2 or 3. Mel isn't bad in English either, you could say she's average, so that means she isn't going to be my partner, which is a little depressing as we live close to each other. And, she's the only person I know and can cooperate within this school. Too bad we can't be partners in this project, but this is a good opportunity to get to know new people, and maybe make fr... Fri.... frie..... frien..... friends.
That word is so unusual to me, it's a word that defines a strong bond between people, but those bonds are easily broken. Who's worthy of such a responsibility? A bond is easily broken when presented with the right temptations, and humans will often succumb to temptation, so how are we so sure we wouldn't be betrayed by our own "friends."
The truth is, you don't.
Just look for the right people it's worth hurting for. I have already found that person. I wonder, there will be more?
Now, coming into our previous topic. There is only one question that is in my head right now. And that is.
'Who will become my partner?'
~~~~~~oOoOo~~~~~~
A week passed, and we are finally going to be given the names of our partners. Most students were eager to know who was going to be their next partner, and others only wanted to get it over with. Even Melissa was eager to know, even though she had no idea of what the project was going to be about. I could just imagine her face after finding out that her first day of being in school after being suspended for some time ago, just to be greeted by a project that is based on her and the other’s intelligence.
I almost feel bad for her.
The teacher announced the pairs for this project.
Mel was paired with a guy named Jaden. I don't know much about him, but what I do know is that he's a smart and talented guy. He's on the boy’s baseball team. I heard he's the ace, the best out of all his teammates. He's not that bad, I haven't heard any bad rumors about him; so I will trust Mel with him.
Mel on the other hand, had a small frown on her face; while Jaden had a welcoming smile on his. I know why Mel is a little uncomfortable, and that's because it's difficult for her to exactly communicate with others; she's only comfortable with me, and no one else. For now, that is.
Let’s see how things will work for them.
Name after name was called for the pairings, and my partner was yet to be mentioned. When the names finished, I was a little confused, because the teacher had said all the names on the attendance. That just made me wonder.
'Who am I being paired with?'
But who knew that there was another name in that list, that has never been mentioned, because the guy doesn't even come to class. The same arrogant, idiotic guy I tried to avoid. The guy that irritated me the most for now. The guy that hurt Mel and that guy was Adrien Rider.
Chapter 9: We Will Do This Project Together!
"What do you mean that I'm going to be paired up with him?!" yelled Adrien from across the class. Almost everyone flinched by his deep intimidating irritated voice.
Believe me, I do agree with what he's questioning, but I wouldn't react like that. We could talk about this calmly with the teacher, not make a fuss.
"Excuse me Mr. Rider, but please refrain from asking questions about your partner until the class is over. Thank you," said the teacher. And then resumed his lecture.
I couldn't pay attention to his lecture today.
(Time skip after class )
"I feel bad for you Hunty, I do. Do you want me to stay here with you?" Mel said as she was sitting next to me.
"No, It's fine. I will meet you at our usual spot," I said. I stood up from my seat and caressed the back of my head, ruffling my back hair. I then looked at her, and she nodded and left the classroom.
As she left, I then looked at the big guy that was in the back of me. He seemed pretty pissed on being paired up with me, it almost makes me question myself.
'What's so bad about being paired up with me?' I thought as I saw his eyes looking at me, they weren't filled with hatred nor were they filled with another mad and infuriated emotion towards me. But they were filled with something, but I can't put my finger on it.
