Chapter Forty-Four
Having to drive into Basingstoke on a Saturday was not how Kate foresaw her morning heading, not by a long stretch. Pulling up in the small car park devoted to three of Black and Bloom's clients, she parked in the bay next to the white building. Her hands were still shaking, thinking of what she was going to say to Russell Pine, the estate agency's manager.
After locking her MG, Kate walked round to the front door, peered inside, locating Russell sat at a desk near the window. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door, stepped inside, and closed it, as the bell tinkled behind her. "Russell."
"Ah Kate, please take a seat." He stood and motioned for her to sit. "I've been expecting you. Can I get you a drink? A tea, or a coffee?"
