“No please,.. don't" I muttered as I struggled over his strong grip, well not really struggling as my body was moving to the rhythm of his touch. “Should I really let go Emily, you want me just as much as I want you," he said husky as he brushed his lips to the side of my ear loops. "Dame,he was right, the hot flames that passed through my knee down to my head made me shiver, from just his actions and I knew I have never wanted anything so bad. His lip passionately locked into mine, while his hands softly rested on my boobs. Just as I was enjoying the heat of the moment, a loud slap hit my face. Emily, Emily the voice of my best friend Samantha echoed through my ears, I flipped my eyes open to see her glaring at me. " What happened,I have been calling you for ages,I thought you had died in your dreams," she smacked as she stared at me. "I gazed around, lost in thought,“Is that why you slapped me?” Oh I guess you must've been having a royal time with your charming prince since you were passionately licking my armpit, she said with a smirk. “How was it? Did it taste like strawberries?” I rubbed my face, confused. “Oh no! Don’t tell me, it can’t be.” I jumped up and ran to the bathroom to throw up, while Samantha laughed at me.It was bad enough that my hot dream wasn’t real. But licking Samantha’s armpit? Seriously, what was wrong with me? As I tried to get over the whole drama, my phone buzzed. It was Jake's mom calling to rant about Jake avoiding her call. I groaned, realizing the day was off to a rough start. Hello, “Emily, it’s Mrs. Matthews,” she said sharply. “Do you know where Jake is? He’s not answering my calls.” I frowned and looked at the clock. It was just past seven. “He might still be asleep,” I said. “Asleep? On a workday?” she said, clearly not believing it. “Maybe he’s just busy,” I suggested. “Busy ignoring his mother?” she said. “If you see him, tell him to call me back. It’s important.” “I will,” I promised, but she had already hung up. “Wow, she really nags,” Samantha said, giving me a look. “Now that the jobless chick is finally awake, come get your breakfast before it gets cold.” I threw a pillow at her, but she dodged it. “Very funny, Sam. Some of us actually enjoy our sleep.” I headed to the bathroom to refreshen up then my ranged again, i thought it was Jake’s mom calling back, but instead, it was a message from an unknown number. Congratulations, Emily Carter! Your application was successful. Please start at Whitmore Technologies on Monday as the new Marketing Manager.” Oh my God,I stared at the screen, rereading the message to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. This was the job I wanted. I jumped up and down, filled with excitement. Samantha walked into the room, still laughing. “What’s going on?” Did Mrs. Matthews decide to ruin your life already?” Sam asked, half-joking, half-worried. “I got the job!” I yelled, grinning from ear to ear. “Whitmore Technologies! I'm starting on Monday. Samantha's mouth dropped open, and then she hugged me tightly as we both screamed in excitement.“That’s awesome, Emily! We need to celebrate! What will you wear on your first day? We should go shopping! ”Or better yet, let’s raid your closet and find the perfect outfit. You have to make a great first impression! I laughed, my heart racing with excitement. “One step at a time, Sam. I haven’t even started yet!” “Still, this is huge! Jake’s going to be so excited to hear this. You have to call him right now.” Jake had been with me through every failed interview and rejection letter. He has always believed in me. I needed to share this moment with him. I dialed his number. After a few rings, he answered. “Hey, Em. What’s up?” Jake’s voice was warm. “Jake, I have amazing news!” I could barely hold back my excitement. “Oh? Tell me.” “I got the job!” I shouted. “Whitmore Technologies—Marketing Manager! I start on Monday!” There was a brief pause, then Jake laughed, his joy clear. “Emily, that’s fantastic! We need to celebrate. How about dinner tonight? I’ll book a table at your favorite place.” “Dinner sounds perfect,” I said softly. “Thank you, Jake. You’ve been so supportive.” “Anything for you, Em. I’ll pick you up at seven.” “Okay, see you then.” As I hung up, Sam was already dragging me to the closet, buzzing with excitement about what I should wear. “This dinner is going to be special. You have to look amazing.” “Jake loves me no matter what I wear,” I protested, but Sam was determined. “Sure, but why not wow him? Now, let’s see...” After trying on a bunch of dresses, we went with a sleek, navy blue one. Sam did my makeup, and when she was done, I barely recognized myself.“You look fantastic,” she said. “Jake’s a lucky guy.”I smiled, feeling both nervous and excited. “Thanks, Sam “I owe this all to you.” “Now knock him out, she said with a smile. Jake showed up right on time. His face lit up when he saw me. “You look incredible, Em.” “You look great too,” I said, noticing how sharp he looked in his suit. At the restaurant, the candlelight made it romantic. We sat down, and I barely glanced at the menu. Jake took my hand and said, “I’m really proud of you. You’ve worked so hard.” Thank you, Jake. I’m so happy,” I replied. After dinner, Jake got up, took out a small box, and knelt down. “Emily, will you marry me?” Tears filled my eyes. My answer was clear.l Yes, Jake, a million times yes.”ll The whole restaurant applauded us as he put the ring in my finger but something felt strange about Samantha's reaction. I could not ponder more about it as Jake pulled me closer and we exchanged kisses.
