Sam, why did your mom invite that girl to the party? She doesn’t belong here, not after what her mom did to our pack. Alice, Samantha’s friend, asked while they were in the restroom, unaware that I was there too.
"Well, Alice, my mom has a plan. Let her think she’s important for now. She’ll be dealt with in due time," Samantha assured her.
I stepped out of one of the stalls, ignoring them as I washed my hands.
"Oh! Look who’s here! The she devil herself," Samantha said, walking towards me. "Kind, I see you’re already feeling like you belong here, huh? You’re my slave, and that’s what you’ll always be."
I tried to leave, not wanting to engage with her, but she grabbed my hand tightly with her sharp claws. I screamed and, with a burst of strength, pushed her. She flew up, hit the wall, and landed hard, hitting her head.
Alice gasped in shock. "Kind still has her powers! She’s been pretending all this time," she shouted.
"How... how did you do that? How were you able to push me that hard?" Samantha asked, in pain, still on the floor, her hand on her bleeding head.
"Sam, I’m so sorry. I don’t know how it happened. I don’t have any powers. You were hurting me, and I had to free myself," I responded, shocked that my powers were returning. How? There must be a reason why my powers are coming back, I thought to myself.
"You liar! You’ll see. I’ll tell my mom you’ve been pretending all this time," Samantha yelled as I rushed out of the restroom to find Linda in the party hall.
"Linda, we need to leave, now!" I said, hurrying out.
"Kind, slow down!" Linda echoed as she followed behind. "What happened? Did Samantha bully you?" she asked, concerned.
"Linda, I think my powers are coming back."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on! What do you mean? You know that’s not possible, right? Your powers can only come back when Leader Lucy returns them, and you know she isn’t planning on doing that."
I explained to her what had transpired between Samantha and me in the restroom. Linda gasped in shock.
"You did what? You were able to push Samantha hard? Kind, do you know what you’re talking about? Samantha is the next Luna. She’s the strongest werewolf among her peers, and she will be Luna at the next Blood Moon," Linda said, raising an eyebrow.
"Linda, I am aware of that. That’s why I am surprised too. There must be a reason why this is happening, and only Uncle will be able to explain."
"You’re right, Kind. We need to go now and inform Dad. Lucy will not take it lightly once she finds out your powers are returning."
UNCLE LINUS’S HOUSE
Are you sure about what you just said?" Uncle Linus asked, his face filled with worry.
"Yes, Uncle," I replied.
"That can't be possible," he said, taking a deep breath. "There is a prophecy about the coming of another war. The Werewolf Chosen One must fight and kill the Vampire Chosen One to restore peace in the world. The prophecy also states that the Chosen One's power cannot be taken from her; her power will be the greatest among all werewolves. She will be the only werewolf to possess the fire power, and with it, she can burn any vampire she touches to ashes," Uncle Linus explained.
"Only the oldest werewolves know about the prophecy. Everyone believes Samantha is the next Luna, as the prophecy also says the next Luna is the Chosen One. But if your powers are truly returning on their own, then..." Uncle Linus paused.
"Then what, Father?" Linda asked, curious. "Does it mean Kind is the Chosen One? The next Luna?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Linda, we don't know that yet. We can't just conclude. We need to see Kind transform, and to do so, she needs to train really hard. For now, do not tell anyone that your powers are back. Lucy will cause trouble once she finds out you hurt Samantha, and you might be summoned. Do not reveal your powers if they are indeed back," Uncle Linus warned.
I nodded, lost in thought. The Chosen One? Me? Is there a chance that I could be the Chosen One? A Luna?
