Chapter 7

I stared at the man before me, dumbfounded. I think I highly underestimated what this man is and what he could do.

If he could send a decent amount of Lycans to rescue him then he definitely wasn’t just anyone.

And I made this man promise me my freedom.

Kairo turned to me with that eerie smile on his face. A shiver ran down my spine as I looked up at his blue eyes that looked a slightly deeper blue than before and a glowing gold circled his irises that made him look like the supernatural that he is.

A muffled squeak came from besides me and I was reminded of Fumi who was crushing me with her hug. Her eyes were now wide open and she was looking at Kairo in fright.

“Akane. Who is this man?” She whispered so low beside my ears yet I saw Kairo perk up in recognition of him. He was still stairing at me, gauging my reaction.

The fear that spiked up from before was gone and replaced by anxiousness. I actually don’t know this man to properly answer Fumi’s question.

“Don’t be scared Akane.” He suddenly said, making me jump at the incredibly deep voice of his that didn’t sound like him at all. It’s as if a different person was talking to me and not the guy I healed.

I wetted my lips to try and respond to him but my voice is stuck in my throat so I had no choice but to simply nod my head at his words.

Pleased. He gave me a wide smile, his eyes crinkling in delight before he turned to the other beast and barked out some orders.

“Clean out the things in here and made sure to leave no human alive. Also find the keys to these chains.” He shouted while raising one of the silver bands to show to them. His words were met by piercing howls as the beast took off to search for the remaining humans alive, if there is still and also hunt for the keys.

When they left I felt relief envelope my whole body. Granted those things are Kairo’s friends but I have no idea if he and them are actually good guys. Also I just saw one of them behead a man and eat him so my fear was logical.

Fumi released a loud sigh and her huge body leaned on me heavily. She must be so afraid that her legs can’t support her. “Fumi, change into your human form so you won’t be too conspicuous.” I told her knowing in my mind that we were about to leave this place.

She nodded her head in agreement, her normal black face showed paleness at the chaotic event she just witnessed.

Supporting her, we left Kairo’s cage and headed to mine where we hid behind the folding paper stand I use when changing. I took a loose dress and undergarments from my closet and gave it to her to use. Since she don’t have any clothes when changing obviously.

After changing, her black body changed into a fair skin with a black web tattoo on her right shoulder. She still have a pair of black eyes that lack any whites and her hair is the same color and so long that reaches on her butt.

She’s taller than me and curvier so I made sure to choose looser clothing of mine to fit her. My long dress only covers her up to her mid thighs.

So despite me calling it her human form, Fumi still looked out of this world in this image.

Her eyes showed how tired she was from the fright she received earlier and the painful grip she has on my arms tells me that she was still unsure of our unlikely friends.

I share her sentiments, however, despite my anxiety of Kairo. There isn’t any doubt in my mind that he will help us out of here. And for me that’s enough to remain by the side of this dangerous creature.

When we were going to back to his cell, I found Kairo eyeing me the whole time and that made me stop in my tracks. Fumi looked at me in apprehension as she also stared at the man.

I gulped at the intense look. It looked as if a predator has set his sights on a prey. And that prey seems to be me.

I hesitated going forward until his look changed into that of his uncaring ones from before but not without sending me a smug grin. My head turns at the sensations and feelings that are swirling in my mind since this day started.

“Are you okay now?” He asked when we came inside the cell. He was still chained to the wall but it’s clear that he doesn’t care about that fact. And he looked so healthy compared to his previous state and while my powers are largely the cause, I suspect his own ability helped a lot.

I felt Fumi scoot behind my back, still not letting go of my hands and I realized that I haven’t really introduced them to each other.

“Kairo,” I called out and he turned to look at me, his attention focused on mine. I motioned for Fumi to get beside me but I just saw her shook her head vehemently through my peripheral making me sigh. Not missing a beat I hurried to introduce each other.

“So Kairo, this is Fumiko, my friend and basically caretaker all this years that I’m imprisoned.” I motioned to my friend who simply peaked at him for a moment before hiding back. He chuckled at her response and only nodded his head in her direction.

“Now Fumi, this is Kairo, as I said before he is a Lycanthrope that I healed before and asked for help in breaking free from here.” I explained, my head turned sideways to peer at her through my shoulders. Her brows knotted in confusion but she also just nodded her head in recognition.

“Nice to meet you Fumi.” Kairo initiated the conversation and I could feel Fumi’s hesistancy but she peaked once again to repeat his greetings.

“Nice to meet you too. You’re not gonna kill us, are you?” She asked so bluntly that I choked on my saliva and I looked at her in horror. She just stared at me as if her question is a valid concern, which it is but you don’t just ask that to the person.

I was startled by the booming sound of his laughter. And my attention flitted from Fumi to him where I found him clutching his stomach as he laughed at her question. After a while, his laugh resided and he looked at us with mirth in his eyes.

“No Fumi, I won’t kill you. Nor any of my men who came here. They will not harm anyone except those humans that imprisoned us.” He explained, althroughout his face changed from mirthful to serious in an instant and there was a promise in his words that make you just nod your head in acceptance of it.

And Fumi just did that, she believed him wholeheartedly without any reason. At least I wasn’t the only one.

Then after he said that he turned to me to ask his own question.

“So, after escaping from here. What are your plans?” He said, his eyes darting at the both of us. Now that made me look at Fumi who was also at a loss to what she would reply.

For the years that we were held captive, not once did we have the time, nor the privacy to talk and plan about such things. All that was in our head were freedom and what happened after that, I honestly never thought off.

Maybe deep in my heart this day had been an impossible dream that I only longed for.

Seeing our lost looks he sighed at us and we turned to him in question. He looked deep in thought before something flashed in his eyes and he stared at us deeply before a smile broke off his face.

“Why don’t you go back with us? I don’t think you have any idea with how the human world works and it’s safer for you to be with us and learn more before going back to your homes.” He presented and I weighted his suggestion.

He had a point, despite Fumi teaching me the culture of this place, I highly doubt that she know anything about the current state of things in the outside world. Besides, even with her humanoid look, we’ll just land ourselves to another greedy human if we just go out there clueless.

I turned to look at Fumi who was deep in thought as well. She looked up to stare at me and I could see the answer in her eyes before she even uttered it.

“Okay, that sounds logical.” She said and I nodded my head in agreement. While these Lycans are dangerous, we know that they won’t hurt us. SO they’re our safest bet in going back to Japan.

Kairo’s face lit up at her answer and he seemed pleased that we agreed to him.

“Good, I will tell my men about your circumstances so our pack will welcome you.” He reassured us.

I held my tongue about that info about his pack, that sounded like they are more of them and I won’t be lying when I said I’m scared at that thought.

A howling sound of victory rang out the whole mansion that reverberated in every walls of the house sounding louder and menacing. Once again shiver ran up my whole body and a buzzing energy of excitement also ran through my blood as I gazed at the glowing eyes of Kairo.

My mind wanders at the thought of staying at his side longer. There’s something about him that is making me curious and attracted to him. Whatever it was I intend to find out what about this man that made me do illogical things.

A few moments later, a huge Lycan stood in front of the cell. His body compared to the others littered with more and deeper scars in his chest and limbs. He was bulkier as well and had that scowl in his muzzle.

The sound of bones breaking suddenly sounded in the air and Fumi and I witnessed how his bones deformed to weird angles before the beast turned into a man before our eyes.

A naked man to be precise.

I hear a gasp behind me and a blush tinted my cheeks as I stared at the bare chest and uncovered waist. I managed to peak before closing my eyes in embarrassment. I’m not knowledgeable about things like that but I’m sure that looked huge. My cheeks turned hotter.

A sudden growling can be hear from besides us and clanking of chains before I felt the presence of a body in front of me and his shadow blocked the light.

I opened my eyes to see Kairo growling menacingly at the man. It was confusing since he seemed to be one of his men and he wasn’t like this before.

I unconsciously touched him, worried why he was so angry.

I felt his tense shoulder relax but his stance was still aggressive as before. I tried to look at the other man in worry but Kairo seems to feel my action and he moved in time to block my sight once again. Irritated I crossed my arms and glared at his back.

“What’s your problem?” I asked him out loud. I just noticed that the man was keeping silent despite the threatening growl coming from Kairo.

He looked back at me when he heard my question, his borws furrowed in anger. “Emmanuel, go find clothes and cover.” was all he said instead of answering my question. His command left me baffled as well as his anger at his nakedness.

He turned back to Emmanuel and something seemed to go over between them because I heard the man’s footsteps going away.

When he was out of sight, Kairo turned to look at us and his pointed stare had my hair bristling in defense.

“What did you see?” He asked in that deep guttural voice once again but instead of fear my blush came back in full force in response to his query. And that made him angrier as he growled at me.

I looked at him with wide eyes as I took a step back at the intense look he’s giving my way. Clearly he didn’t like that when he clutched my wrist to stop my movements.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked as I struggled to move away from him. He tightened his grip on my and his nails elongated the angrier he gets and it punctured my arms. I winced at the pain and that made him return to his senses as he stared at my bleeding arm.

Suddenly, he loosened his grip and before I could cradle it to my body, he grabbed it close to him and licked the wound! I tried to take my hands away but he just growled once again before continuing on lapping my injured wrist.

I balked at the gross act but decided to just let him do his thing since he was not in the correct state of mind.

When he was satisfied he gently released my hands and I quickly wiped my hands on my clothes to get rid of his saliva. It took me a moment but after the feeling of grossness abated I noticed that my powers haven’t kicked in yet.

So I looked down on my hands wondering why and was left shocked at the clear skin that greeted me. I looked up at Kairo who looked as if he didn’t do such crazy thing just now.

“Wha… how.” I sputtered as I waved my hands in front of me, my eyes wide in disbelief.

He was about to say something when the man from before, Emmanuel came back now wearing a short that was tight on him. But it was definitely better than his before at least.

“Kairo.” He said his voice gruff yet still pleasant to the ear, he bowed in front of him. Kairo nodded his head in acknowledgement.

“I have the keys here.” He said, showing a set of keys in his hands. Fumi exclaimed a cheer beside me, I almost forgot that she was there and only remembered her presence when she spoke.

“Yes, that’s the one. Those are the keys William use!” She said excitedly as she run in front of the man. She must’ve been so excited that she forgot her earlier fear. She bounded for him and snatched up the keys from his hands making him surprised.

Before I could stop her from her action the man had her in his hold and she was returned back to her fearful state as she gaped at him. She trembled at the intense look he gave her and I feared that Fumi will faint if he won’t let go of her.

“Emmanuel, let her go. She can help us.” Kairo said with authority and he obeyed, letting go of a petrified Fumi. I steadied the frightened girl and hug her to me.

“Fumi are you alright?” I asked her and she nodded while trembling.

“I’m… I’m fine. His, his keys are here.” She stuttered while showing me a silver key. I took the key from her and looked towards Kairo who was as calm as ever. Nodding my head at FUmi, I let her sit down far away from Emmanuel.

Making quick work of the chains around him, I unlocked each until every bands of silver clanked on the solid floor. Next I asked Fumi which keys were hers and mine and when she picked it out of the bunch so I took out mine and her collar.

She took in a huge breath, a wide smile flitting in her face. “I never thought I’ll be able to breath so light.” She said, her eyes brimming with unshed tears as the reality of being free had settled in. My eyes stung with tears as well but I held it in as I looked back at Kairo and Emmanuel. Because of them, we will be free at last.

“Every human is dead in this mansion except for that one man who was able to run away early on the fight. We tried to track him down but he was able to escape.” Emmanuel reported to Kairo who was stretching his limbs.

He stopped his movements and looked at his companion in a seeking manner. “Did he look like an old man and well dressed?” He asked and I felt my heart hammer in my chest at the insinuation. And it fell completely when Emmanuel nodded his head.

“He’s still alive.” I said in a whisper. Kairo whipped his head in my direction before his eyes full of thought.

“Emmanuel inform the pack, this two ladies will be coming with us.” He commanded and Emmanuel knotted his brows.

“But Kairo, we can’t let outsiders in.” He argued but he shut up when Kairo sent him a glare.

“This woman helped me and if it wasn’t for her I would be dead now. We will shelter them as long as that man is still alive.” He stated, at one point he looked at us and there was something flasing in his eyes as he stared at me. But the look was so brief for me to grasp what it was.

Emmanuel bowed down his head in compliance and I let out a relieved sigh knowing that we won’t be alone now that we know that William might still be alive.

After a few moments the beast have gathered and we have prepared to leave but one look on the frightened creatures hobbled in their cages, my heart broke for them. If William really is alive. It isn’t safe for them to remain here.

So without thinking I stop Kairo from walking and he looked at me in question.

“We can’t leave them like this.” I motioned at the forlorn creatures and he roved his eyes towards them. He was deep in contemplation before he barked out for two of the beast to remain and release the other creatures from their captivity.

I smiled at him, thankful for his help.

“Thank you for helping us.” I said to him, my heart beaming at the thought of finally leaving this cursed mansion.

He returned my smile, his right hand cupping my cheeks in a gentle manner.

“This isn’t the end of my help yet.” He said cryptically before walking forward and leaving me staring at his back.

A/N: Did anyone noticed that I missed two days of uploading? I don’t think anyone noticed. Hahahh

Anyway, I will be busy due to the month end work. So I might be late in uploading this and His Little Maid by a day but please be assured that I will always update even if it be a day or two late.
