The first night

Aria stood at the threshold of the penthouse, staring in stunned silence. It wasn’t a home—it was a fortress of luxury. Floor-to-ceiling glass framed the night skyline, marble floors stretched endlessly, and a cold elegance clung to every surface. Dominic’s world. Not hers. “This is where you’ll live now,” he said, stepping past her like a shadow with purpose. “You’ll find everything you need. Clothes. Security. Privacy.” “I don’t want any of it,” Aria muttered, refusing to move. Dominic turned, his gaze pinning her. “You’ll adjust. Comfort was part of the deal.” “Your deal. I never agreed to this!” He stalked toward her slowly, deliberate in each step. “Your father signed your life away for a loan. You may hate me, but you belong to me now, Aria. In name. In body. In every way that matters.” Her breath caught. “I’m not your possession.” “No,” he said quietly. “You’re my wife.” With that, he reached out, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face. She flinched, but he didn’t pull back. His touch was both gentle and terrifying. “I won’t hurt you, Aria,” he murmured. “But I won’t let you run, either.” “Why me?” she whispered. “Why not find someone who actually wants this?” His eyes darkened, unreadable. “Because I don’t want someone easy. I want you.” He left her then, disappearing down the hall. Aria stood there, her heart thudding, her body trembling. This wasn’t a fairytale. It was a beautiful cage. And the man who held the key—wasn’t going to let her out. She turned to the grand staircase, gripping the railing like it might steady her. This was just the beginning. And she had no idea how to survive it.
