Alessio was quiet throughout the ride to the estate. His jaw was tight, his hands gripping the steering wheel as though it might betray him if he let go. I didn’t dare break the silence, not with the tension radiating off him in waves. When we pulled up to the mansion, I hesitated before stepping out. I bit my lips as I watched him walk in the front.
