Chapter 3“Sorry,” Nick called over his shoulder as he dodged past the elderly couple ahead of him on the sidewalk. The man used a metal walker and methodically plunked his way along with his dutiful wife in his wake. Nick had hesitated behind them for a few polite seconds, his rush from the parking lot halted by the good manners instilled by his mother. But even her stern teachings crumbled beneath Nick’s ticking mental clock. He had kept Michael and his friends waiting long enough.
