Episode 5: His Rules, Her Defiance

338 Words
Lena barely got any sleep that night. Liar. His voice echoed in her mind, along with the way he had looked at her—like he knew exactly what he was doing to her. But she wasn’t about to fall for his little power games. She was here to work, not to be another woman caught in Dominic Blackwood’s web. The next morning, she walked into the office with her head held high, determined to act normal. But the moment she stepped into Dominic’s office, she knew that wouldn’t be possible. He was already there, leaning back in his chair, watching her. "Morning, Ms. Carter," he drawled, his lips curving into something close to a smirk. She ignored the way her heart skipped a beat. "Good morning, Mr. Blackwood." He gestured for her to sit. "I have new rules for you." Lena arched a brow. "Rules?" He slid a sleek black folder across the desk. "You’re my assistant. That means you need to be available at all times. No personal calls during work hours. No leaving without informing me first. And one more thing—" His eyes met hers, dark and unreadable. "No distractions." Her pulse spiked. Was he talking about her? About them? Lena set her jaw. "Understood." But she wasn’t going to let him have the last word. She leaned forward slightly, keeping her voice steady. "But I have my own rules too, Mr. Blackwood." Amusement flickered in his gaze. "Do you?" "Yes." She tilted her chin up. "I won’t be treated like I’m just another disposable employee. If I’m going to dedicate my time to this job, I expect respect." For a moment, he just stared at her. Then, slowly, that wicked smirk returned. "Noted." Lena stood, feeling victorious. "Is that all?" His smirk deepened. "For now." She turned and walked out, but she could feel his gaze burning into her the entire way. If Dominic Blackwood thought she was going to be another pawn in his game, he was in for a surprise.
