Amber's POV
I hang up before Paige hears the tears running down my cheeks. I barely hold myself together as I explain my sudden departure to Alpha Stephen and pack everything I'll need to go back. My tires bring me closer and closer to Onyx Flame. The past rushes through my memory, crushing my heart into a fine dust. My soul aches for my father. For his hugs, his wisdom, his comfort. We haven't seen each other in six months. I could never work up the courage to visit him, and he only came to see me once. The phone calls we shared are proving to be not enough as guilt settles in my bones. I should've tried harder to see him, to make sure he knew I loved him. My phone sits in the cup holder, vibrating constantly. I know it's Jake. He's been calling for three hours now. I just need time.
