  Alex's POV   Despite my reservations, I pull her in and hug her. Her body freezes for a split second in my arms before relaxing. Her sigh of contentment when her head lands on my chest makes me wish I didn't have to let her go.   "I'm so sorry, Amber. I've regretted the night you left every day since."   She peers up at me. "I know. I can tell, but I'm just not ready to do this again."   With that, she ends the brief hug and steps a few feet away from me. She keeps her eyes on my scars as I put my shirt on and get back to packing.   "Is that all you need?"   "Yeah, I think so. Let's go."   Amber hesitantly follows me out of my room.
