Amber's POV Branches snap beneath my hurried, bloody feet. I don't know where I am. All I know is that I have to run. The dancing trees offer no protection from my captors. I can hear them behind me, hissing as they close in on my trail. My lungs burn, and blood leaks from the wound on my torso. I'm exhausted, but I can't stop. Not even for a second, or I'll be caught. My only hope is to get out of these trees and into the rising sun. This would be much easier if I could get Vera to wake up, but this is why Jake trained me in my human form, too. We can't always rely on our wolves to save us. The sun breaks through the tree line, offering me a breath of relief. There are only a few feet left between me and freedom. The hissing gets louder. I can feel the wind from their fast movemen
