CHAPTER 1: COMING HOME.

JAKE

I was looking forward to getting home. I had spent the last year at the Alpha training academy. I had passed with the highest score in everything. I was ready for whenever my dad decided to step down. I was relaxing in the back of the car that dad had sent to pick me and Shaun, my future beta, up from the airport. We had already left the human city and were driving through the twisting country roads that led to the pack grounds. It was good to be back.

It wasn’t long before the huge metal gates came into view. I hadn’t realised how much I’d missed the place while I’d been away. Not that I’d exactly been homesick. I’d been far too busy. Between training, forging friendships that could hopefully one day lead to strong strategic alliances and having fun with the girls in the nearby town, there had been no time to be homesick. Shaun had come up to join me for the last six months, as did everyone else’s future Betas.

We were pulling up to the pack house, and our parents were outside waiting for us. We’ll Shaun’s parents and my mum. Dad would be up in his office waiting for me to go and give him a full report of my time in the academy and my scores. Mum gave me a big hug, and she squeezed me so tightly that I could barely breathe. “I guess you missed me.” I chuckled. She let go and smacked me playfully in the arm. “I missed you too.” I told her, kissing the top of her head. We headed inside, and I was attacked from behind by a flurry of fur. I landed on the ground, rolling over to look at the honey coloured wolf that had knocked me down.

Laughing, I kicked its leg out and sent it, stumbling back just far enough to get back to my feet and ready myself as the wolf pounced again. This time, I caught hold of it around the midsection as best I could, and we both went tumbling to the floor. Rolling around, trying to get the upper hand. A loud voice interrupted us, causing us to jump apart “What exactly do you two think you are doing?” it said. We looked up to where dad stood at the top of the grand wooden staircase. He didn’t look impressed. “Sorry dad, we were just messing around.” I said. The wolf shifted, and my sister stood there butt naked grinning “Sorry daddy.” She said sweetly, fluttering her eyelashes at him. He softened a little “That sort of thing should be taken outside. Jake, I will be waiting for you in my office.” He said before turning and walking away. I looked over at Ally, my sister, and took off my hoodie, throwing it at her. “Cover yourself up, pup.” I said cheerily. I think I had missed my little sister the most. She had come of age while I was away. I had received an excited phone call when she got her wolf and shifted for the first time.

ALPHA JAMES COOPER

Jake followed me up to my office, and I told him to sit. I had already had a report from the academy, so I knew how well he had done. I wanted to hear it from him, though. He sat there and proudly told me about getting the highest scores in his group. In fact, he had beaten a few of the academy records as well. I sat there listening. He told me about the relationships that he’d formed with other future Alphas. I was pleased that was a smart move.

Once he’d finished filling me in on his time at the academy. I told him to get a good meal and a good night’s sleep. His mother had planned a big welcome home party for tomorrow evening. She would have had it tonight if she’d had her way. He thanked me for the warning and left. My son had grown into a fine young man. He would be a great Alpha, I had no doubt of that. I relaxed back into my chair, feeling blessed. The Goddess had indeed smiled on me. I was the Alpha of one of the biggest and most powerful packs in the country, I had a gorgeous mate as my Luna, who completed me and two children that I couldn’t be prouder of Life was good.

JAKE

I headed back downstairs and made my way through to the kitchen to grab something to eat. It was empty apart from one of the omegas who worked there. She was scrubbing dishes when I walked in. She greeted me with a smile and a respectful nod. I took my time making a sandwich, hanging up at her every so often. I enjoyed watching her cheeks flush every time that our eyes met. She had big chocolate brown eyes framed by long dark lashes. “How have you been?” I asked her. She cleared her throat and spoke quietly “Good.” She replied. I moved over to stand behind her. I pushed her long black hair aside so that I could access her neck. She breathed a little heavier and leant her head to the side slightly. Making it easier for me to leave a trail of soft kisses from her ear down to her collarbone. I could smell her arousal. “How about we go upstairs.” I say into her ear. “Mrs Collins is going to kill me if I don’t get these finished.” She groaned “I could come up when I’m done.” She suggested hopefully.

I stepped back and appreciatively took in the sight of her firm, pert arse in her leggings as she leant over the sink. I moved closer again and ran my fingers up her inner thigh slowly “Don’t take too long. I will be waiting.” I growled. Making her legs tremble a little. I picked up my sandwich, grabbed a drink, and took one last look before heading up to my room to wait for her arrival. Amie had been my go-to lay for years. She had always had a crush on me, and she was hot as hell. Obviously, she wasn’t ever going to be my Luna, but she was good in bed and always willing.
