Chapter 23 Stunned, Xavier leaned back against the car seat, trying to focus his vision. He’d hit something. But what? Not a car. He was in the parking lot. The Chevy had…stopped abruptly. He couldn’t remember. Something wet was dripping down his left temple and when he touched the side of his head and looked at his fingers, he saw a touch of blood there. He’d struck his head against the side window, but luckily for him, hadn’t broken the glass and seriously injured himself.
