As the night wore on, the howling of the wolves grew louder and more frequent. The villagers huddled in their homes, terrified of what might be lurking outside. But Amelia could not stay hidden any longer. She had to know if her beloved was among the beasts.
She slipped out of her house and made her way to the edge of the forest. The moon was full and bright, casting an eerie glow on the trees. Amelia could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she stepped into the woods.
She walked for what felt like hours, calling out her lover's name. But all she heard in response were the howls of the wolves, growing ever closer. Suddenly, she spotted a figure in the distance, hunched over and breathing heavily.
"Alex?" she called out.
The figure turned, and she saw that it was indeed her beloved. But his eyes were cold and dull, and his skin was covered in fur.
"I had hoped to spare you this, my love," he said, his voice deep and growling. "But you have come too far."
Amelia could not believe what she was seeing. Her heart ached as she realized that her beloved had become a werewolf, one of the very creatures that had plagued their village for years. She stumbled back, unsure of what to do.
"Please, Alex," she begged. "Don't do this."
But it was too late. The other wolves had closed in, and Amelia found herself surrounded. She knew she had only one option left: to become a werewolf herself.
With a deep breath, she closed her eyes and embraced the transformation. Pain wracked her body as her bones cracked and her flesh twisted. But when she opened her eyes again, she found herself standing on all fours, covered in sleek fur.
The pack of wolves accepted her as one of their own, and together they set off into the night, ready to claim their territory.
