A one-man spaceship hovered and landed on the dome of the sugar beets field at 2 a.m. local time. Its shield kissed the field’s dome shield, and the two merged. Slowly the ship’s shield slid into the field agri-dome, like a big bubble swallowing a tiny one. Finally, the spaceship had completely entered the field, and it set down on the cool earth. The spaceship’s door opened upwards, and DeVaun stepped out into the night. Not even the moon lit the stalks around him. Everything was so quiet that the chorus of crickets sounded like a full orchestra. He slipped to the back of the ship and lifted out a small crate.
