i pull into the driveway way later than i planned, gym bag heavy on my shoulder, sweat still sticking my tank top to my chest. the house is glowing from every window even though my brother and his wife are out of town for the whole weekend. i should’ve known riley would throw one of her sleepovers. she’s nineteen now, old enough to have friends over without asking, but the second i step through the front door the whole living room hits me like a punch to the gut.
