ARIA POV
"I looked out my window and saw her in the gardens. She was an orphan who worked as a servant in the palace. She was sweeping the leaves off the ground, and she looked so tired and sad. I felt a strange connection to her, like we were meant to meet. I went outside and walked up to her. 'Hello,' I said. She looked up at me, her eyes wide with surprise. 'Your Highness,' she said, curtsying. 'What are you doing out here?' I asked. 'Just doing my chores,' she said
I knew she was lying. She wasn't doing her chores. She was hiding in the gardens, trying to find a moment of peace. I could see it in her eyes. 'You don't have to pretend with me,' I said. 'You can be yourself.' She looked at me, her eyes shining with tears. 'No one has ever said that to me before,' she said. I reached out and took her hand. 'I'm going to change that,' I said. And from that moment on, I did everything I could to make her feel like she.
"I made sure she got extra time off, so she could rest and enjoy herself. I gave her gifts of pretty clothes and jewelry. I invited her to come with me on my rides through the forest. She was so grateful for my kindness, and I felt a growing affection for her. But there was one problem. My father had already arranged my marriage to another woman, a princess from a neighboring kingdom. I didn't love her, but I knew I had to marry her to keep the peace between our lands.
"I was torn between my duty and my heart. I knew I had to marry the princess, but I also knew I couldn't abandon the orphan girl. I talked to my father about my dilemma, and he was understanding. 'You must do what you feel is right,' he said. 'Even if it means going against my wishes.' I was grateful for his understanding, but I still didn't know what to do. As the day of my wedding approached, I felt more and more torn. I loved the orphan girl, but I knew I had to marry the princess.
"On the morning of my wedding, I went to Emily's room and found her packing her things. 'What are you doing?' I asked. 'I'm leaving,' she said. 'I know you have to marry the princess, and I don't want to be in the way.' 'Please don't go,' I said. 'I care about you.' She looked at me, her eyes filled with sadness. 'I care about you too,' she said. 'But I can't stay here and watch you marry someone else.' I was at a loss.
"I went to my mother and told her about emily. I told her how much I cared about her and how much she had helped me. 'You have to marry the princess,' my mother said. 'But what about my heart?' I asked. 'What about emily?' 'Your duty comes first,' my mother said. 'You must do what is best for the kingdom.' I was devastated. I knew she was right, but I also knew I couldn't abandon emily. I had to find a way to make both of them happy.
"I had an idea. I went to Emily's room and found her packing her things. 'I have a proposal for you,' I said. 'What is it?' she asked. 'I want you to come with me to the wedding,' I said. 'I want you to be my maid of honor. I want you to be part of my life, even if I have to marry the princess.' She looked at me, her eyes full of hope. 'You would do that for me?' she asked. 'I would do anything for you,' I said.
Emily agreed to come to the wedding. On the day of the wedding, she walked down the aisle beside me. I could see the princess glaring at her, but I didn't care. I was happy to have emily by my side. I made a vow to myself that day. I would always put emily first. I would always make sure she was happy, even if it meant going against my duty or the wishes of my family. She was more important to me than anything else.
Emily's POV
"I couldn't believe that the prince had asked me to be his maid of honor. I had always felt like an outsider, but he had made me feel like I belonged. I was so happy to be by his side, even though I knew it would make the princess angry. As I stood next to the prince, I thought about how much my life had changed since I had met him. I never could have imagined that I would be a part of something so grand and beautiful. I felt like my life was just beginning,
ARIA'S POV
I can't believe this is happening. I'm supposed to be getting married to the princess, but all I can think about is emily. I know that I have a duty to my family and my kingdom, but I don't know if I can go through with this wedding. I feel like I'm betraying emily, and I feel guilty about it. But I also know that I can't abandon my people. As I stand at the altar, I'm torn between two worlds - the world of duty and the world of love. What am I going to do?
The priest begins to speak the words of the wedding ceremony. I listen to them, but my mind is elsewhere. I feel like I'm living in a dream, and I can't wake up. Suddenly, I hear a voice. It was Emily's voice, and she's calling my name. I turn around and see her standing in the doorway. She looks determined, and she's walking towards me. I don't know what to do. I don't know if I should stop the wedding or continue with it. I feel like I'm being torn in two directions.
As emily approaches, I hear the priest's voice falter. He stops speaking and looks at me, confused. I turn to emily, who is now standing next to me. "I can't let you do this," she says. "I know that you're being forced into this marriage, and I can't let it happen." I look into her eyes and feel my heart beating faster. I know that she's right - I can't go through with the wedding. But I also know that I'm disappointing so many people.
I take a deep breath and turn to the priest. "I'm sorry," I say. "But I can't do this. I can't marry princess lilly." The priest looks at me, his face full of surprise. The wedding guests are murmuring, and I can feel their eyes on me. But I don't care. All I care about is emily, who is still standing next to me. "I know this is a difficult decision," she says. "But I think it's the right one." I nod my head. I feel like a weight has been taken from me.
"I will have to face the consequences of this decision," I say. "But I know it's what I need to do." emily nods her head, and I feel a sense of peace wash over me. I turn to the priest again. "I'm sorry, but I have to ask you to stop the wedding," I say. He looks at me for a moment, then nods his head. He addresses the guests, informing them that the wedding will not be taking place. There are gasps and murmurs, but I paid no attention.
"Come with me," I say emily. She looks at me, surprised. "Where are we going?" she asks. "We're going to start a new life together," I say. "A life where we can be free to love each other without any judgment or expectations." She smiles, and I feel my heart soar. We leave the chapel, hand in hand, and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. For the first time in my life, I feel truly happy. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I know that i will enjoy every moment with her.☺
