Chapter 14 Breakfast was bread rolls that I’d warmed in the oven. We’d eaten croissants the last couple of days so I thought we deserved a change. Spreading marmalade on his roll, Mark said, “We’ve got that trip to the Jazz club this evening haven’t we?” I nodded, my mouth full. “I don’t think I’ve heard much jazz,” Sam admitted, still chewing. I swallowed. “It’s not my favourite type of music, but if it’s done well it’s okay.” Sam shrugged, no doubt unconvinced. Like most teenagers he was reluctant to try anything new. “As for the rest of the day, we’ll wait and see what Tom and Cliff want to do,” Mark said. “After all they’re the ones with the car.” Someone knocked at the door and I got up to answer it.
