Katty moaned and rolled over in the bed.
Dreams. Bad dreams. Nightmares haunted her. Visuals of babies floated by her. Of babies accusing her, taunting her. Strings tied and linked them all together and to her. Blood covered them all. They all stared at her, wide-eyed.
Then the voices began. Babies crying, but more. “Mommy, Mommy.”
“Why’d you leave me?”
“Why didn’t you want us, Mommy?”
“What did we do to deserve this?”
All crying out. All children’s voices and baby’s voices. Some cried. Some accused. Some yelled. Some sounded like Bea. Many sounded like her own voice.
Still sleep, Katty cried and moaned.
Then other voices started. Voices of men and other people. Some loud. Some in a low, sinister whisper. Some hissed at her. “You are a slut.”
