Chapter 9Jesse and Kensuke were enjoying the northeast’s first major snowfall of 2020, too. They were taking a break, lying flat out in the middle of town, where people could see. Jesse’s right arm was outstretched. Kensuke’s left one was, their gloved fingers intertwined again. They were close to six feet apart, now, at least.
“We can’t lie here all day,” Jesse said.
“I could, even if it is cold as f**k, because it’s…Maybe you don’t want to hear it.”
“Hear what, Kensu?”
“Kensu…” He turned to smile in Jesse’s direction. “I’m getting used to that. It’s nice. It’s all nice.”
“I think it’s nice, too,” Jesse said.
“I missed you.” Kensuke looked away.
“I missed you, too. I think about stuff sometimes.”
