--- One Week Later
Alvina walked down the red carpet in a long, flowing white dress with a diamond tiara resting elegantly on her head.
In the front of the huge hall, a man dressed in a black tuxedo stood with a cheerful smile on his face.
Of course he would be happy. Who wouldn’t be happy to marry the Queen?
“Lucius and Alvina, I now invite you to join hands and make your vows, in the presence of God and his people.”
--- One Week Ago
Prime Minister Edward raised one eyebrow, “Queen Alvina’s husband?”
“Yes, Prime Minister. Do you know the second prince of the Subversi Nation?”
Prime Minister Edward raised one eyebrow, “Prince Lucius?”
“Yes, yes! The crown prince is married already, but Prince Lucius isn’t. He is also very good-looking and gentlemanly.”
The Prime Minister nodded his head excitedly, “Yes, and the Baldamia Empire and Subversi Nation are close to each other! Although the Subversi Nation isn’t the most powerful, it will still benefit our nation to have a marriage.”
Beatrice’s eyes lit up, “Yes indeed!”
To everyone’s surprise, Queen Alvina also agreed to this marriage without even meeting Prince Lucius beforehand.
She didn’t seem to care much, and they only met each other twice before the wedding ceremony.
Alvina knew that even if she was to get married, the throne would still be hers. Therefore, she didn’t care much about who she married anymore.
Keeping power in her hands was the most important as of now.
That would be what her father and mother wanted.
--- Now
“I Lucius, take you, Alvina, to be my wife, to have and to hold from, this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part; according to God’s holy law. In the presence of God I make this vow.”

After the exciting wedding ceremony, Alvina returned to her room, with her new husband, Lucius.
She didn’t love Lucius as a husband, but she didn’t dislike him either. He was indeed very kind and thoughtful, and also had a good-looking face and body.
That night, they slept on the same bed but. . .
(*helemon’s note: What are my dirty readers thinking right now? Hmm?)
Nothing happened.
---
The next week, there was another minister meeting in the Audience Room.
“Where is Prime Minister Edward?” Alvina knit her eyebrows together.
The ministers looked around the room, unable to find Prime Minister Edward. They waited for several minutes, but no one showed up.
Alvina furrowed her eyebrows together, “Let’s start the meeting.”
For the entire next month, Prime Minister Edward didn’t show up to any of the meetings and when Alvina sent someone to look for him, he was also nowhere to be found.
Alvina entered the Audience Room and raised one eyebrow when she saw her husband, Lucius Cohen sitting amongst the other ministers.
For the past month, their relationship stayed in a pretty stale position. They were very polite and respectful to each other, but in no way did they resemble a married couple.
“Lucius, why are you here?” Alvina walked over to her throne and took her seat.
“I proposed an idea to the ministers, and we would like to discuss it during the meeting this morning.”
Alvina frowned, “Idea? What idea?”
Lucius smiled, “Alvina, you have had the chance to be the emperor for a month already. However, we all know that you are married now. By the Baldamian Law, the Princess’s husband is ahead of the Princess in terms of throne succession.”
Alvina was taken aback slightly before she grinned, “But I am not a Princess. I am the Queen regnant. What is the meaning of this, Lucius?”
Instead of Lucius responding, a minister stood up.
“Your majesty, there is no meaning of this. However, your majesty and we all know perfectly well that a woman should not be the emperor in the Baldamia Empire. This rule has been laid down for several generations already. It shouldn’t be broken by you, your majesty.”
Alvina’s smile disappeared as she raised one eyebrow, “But it has already been broken. I am the emperor now -”
“Which you shouldn’t be -” Lucius cut Alvina off.
“How dare you talk when the emperor is talking?!” Alvina’s voice thundered in the room, causing all of the ministers to take a step back in fear.
Even if they didn’t approve of Alvina being the emperor anymore, they were still a little scared of her.
Without the Prime Minister around, all of the ministers were like a group of sheep without a shepherd. In the past, they had always listened to the Prime Minister. When he agreed to let Alvina temporarily be the emperor, they agreed.
When he agreed to let Alvina permanently be the emperor, they agreed.
However, the Prime Minister was gone now.
Therefore, when the King came up to them a few days ago and successfully persuaded them that a woman being the emperor was unheard of and humiliating to the Baldamia Empire, they quickly agreed.
Lucius blinked a few times, “I apologize, your. . . majesty.”
“This topic of discussion is rejected. Please get out of the Audience Room now so we can start the meeting.” Alvina narrowed her eyes as she glared at Lucius. This man can’t stay.
However, Lucius didn’t budge. He straightened his back slightly and started again.
“Alvina, all of the ministers have decided. They have all agreed that your majesty shouldn’t stay as the emperor of the Empire. However, you will still remain as Queen, and I shall assist you in governing the empire.”
“Assist?” Alvina chuckled. How did she not know? This man. . . Lucius Cohen’s ambition was this huge. He had no chance to inherit the throne in his own nation, so he came over to inherit the Baldamia Empire’s throne?
“Please raise your hand if you agree for the emperor to be changed.”
At once, all of the ministers raised their hands.
Alvina’s face darkened as she shot a glare at all of the ministers.
Although the emperor was indeed the most powerful position, if all of the ministers concurred with a decision, they could overrule the emperor.
“My Queen, please adhere to the laws of the Baldamia Empire. I shall announce to the Empire about the change in emperor as soon as possible, and I am sure that the people will also have no objection against this decision.”
“You have no royal blood in you,” Alvina said, her expression so cold the temperature inside the room seemed to even drop a few degrees.
Lucius smiled, “That is no problem. Our child will, and as he will inherit the throne, the Baldamia Empire will still remain in the Asber royal line.”
One of the ministers bravely took a step forward, “Your majesty, please step off of the throne. All of the ministers have agreed, and the laws of the Baldamia Empire also clearly state that a female is of last priority in terms of the succession to the throne. Your majesty, there is nothing you can do.”
Alvina clenched her fists together in anger as she glared at Lucius. He had planned it out perfectly. Indeed, there was nothing she could do.
If she forcefully stayed here, it wouldn’t make things any better. In fact, it would only make it worse if the minister's view of her took a negative turn.
Her only choice now was to give up the throne for the time being and find a way to take it back later.
The Prime Minister! She had to find him first!
Alvina unwillingly stood up from the emperor’s chair and Lucius took this opportunity to sit down right away.
“My Queen, thank you for following the Baldamia Empire’s laws.”
Alvina scoffed at him before turning around to leave. However, before she could even reach the door, Lucius’s deep voice spoke again.
“Stop. Queen Alvina, it isn’t time for you to leave yet.”
