Kigal awoke in a sweat, damp linen clinging to the curves of her body. Palms to her eyes, she rubbed them and tried to blink the images away. A dream. A nightmare unlike the others she’d experienced lately, but nothing more. She swung her feet over the edge of the bed and the shock of icy stone brought her back to reality. Still, the vision nagged at her. Of all the things she imagined her mind capable of producing, that wasn’t one. She at least knew her mother.
