Prologue - Ex Girlfriend Returns

693 Words
Brielle's POV It's been two months since my husband went away for a business trip and I haven't heard from him the entire time he's been gone. I've tried calling him and it goes straight to voicemail. SMS's go unanswered. Emails are ignored. f*******: messages are read, but then I was blocked. Things have changed for me since he's been gone. I've stopped eating and can't sleep properly without him being close to me. I feel like an entirely different person. One I don't recognise and I'm not liking the feeling at all. There's a knock at the bedroom door followed by. "Mrs M, Mr Morelli would like to see you in his office." "Okay," I weakly reply. Looking at myself in the mirror I see a woman with dark bags under her eyes. My collarbone is showing and my clothes are loose on me. I run my fingers through my hair before heading to his office. When I get to Bodhi's office I knock on the door and wait for home to reply. There's whispering followed by a feminine laugh, which tells me that Bodhi has a woman in his office. "Stop it, Cynthia." He chuckles. "You may enter." Entering the room I see a blond woman sitting on my husband's lap. She has her arms wrapped around him. Her eyes are shining brightly as she looks me up and down. "Damn, Bodhi. You never told me your wife was this pathetic." She laughs at her taunt. "Jesus, Brielle. What have you done to yourself?" He looks at the woman on his lap. "She's never looked this pathetic before." "This," I move my hand up and down my body. "Is a result of losing sleep from my husband not reaching out to me. Even though I've done so numerous times. Also, I haven't been able to eat as a result of stress because of what you've put me through." "I haven't put you through anything. Not, yet anyway." He slides an envelope across the table. "While you've been living off my money I was spending my time working and while away I met the love of my life again." The woman gives me smug look. "Cynthia Richard's. I hope you remember me." Of course I remember that wretched woman. She's the reason why I married Bodhi in the first place. "Who can forget the woman who dumped her fiancée on the morning of the wedding. He needed a replacement and I was one he settled for." Picking up the envelope I look inside and see Divorce papers in it. He wants a divorce after everything we've been through. "Divorce, Bodhi?" "Yup," he pop's the p. "This way I get to have a fresh start with the woman I was supposed to be with." Well I'm not going to fight him on this. This moment will be one that he'll regret for the rest of his life. I'm going to make damn air of it too. Pulling the papers out I go through the documents carefully. When I get to the part of the assets I put lines through it all. Bodhi looks over at me. "What are you doing, Brielle?" "I'm not taking a thing from you." I sign where I have to and slide the documents back across the table. "You've got your divorce, Mr Morelli. I hope you and Cynthia live in hell. With that I storm out of the room and start packing my bags. I take everything I entered the house with. Looking at my left I take the two rings off my finger and place them on the bed. Going through my purse I pull out the black card that he gave me after we married. I never spent a cent of his money and I never intended to. I have enough money to last me until I die. Something that my ex husband will never know about. It's a good thing that we didn't have any children or this break up would have been a lot messier. Once I have everything I need I leave the house without looking back. It's time for a fresh start...
