Civility is a luxury
Nyx Flayre
I am at a loss for words. What Ilyon had just said isn’t unnecessarily true, but he is acting as if though I am doing these very things that he and Vikyn have accused me of… I silently curse the Imperial Consort and Prince Gunne, and His & Her Majesty. They know I won’t risk telling Ilyon my objective. Even with how incriminating I am looking to him. I am considered a possibility with how everything is laying out. As much as I can understand why he considers me. I am still offended. It feels like I am just not good enough to be trusted by him. Apart of me wants him to just believe me.
I feel like I belong nowhere. I don’t belong to the Sphere and I certainly do not have a place with the Dark Moon. Other than in name.
I seat myself across from Ilyon. And cross my legs.
“ Then ask me Alpha. What else do you want to know?” I ask in a pleasant tone.
The next two hours I had to answer the same questions over and over in different ways, as if how I answered the time before, just did not make sense or was not the right answer he was looking for. With each passing minute, I was becoming more frustrated internally because I was quickly seeing that. Ilyon wanted me to be a part of this in some way. It was almost as if my lack of participation did not make sense, and that I had to be a part of it.
Despite this annoyance, I probably would’ve sat through an additional hour or so if he had not asked me the following question…
“ The night that you had eradicated the Blue Fang pack in the Sphere. And it was determined that you were involved. What are all the variables that made you choose that pack as the trial run for Anosmia fyr?“ Ilyon asked.
I held my breath for a fraction of a second before darkly bemoaning,
“ They were located in the Sphere, and I could not think of any other better guinea pigs, other than the killers of my Brother.”
Ilyon c****d his jaw.
“ You killed women and children. I get it was a personal preference, but was it really necessary to annihilate the entire pack?” He asked full of judgment.
I squared my shoulders then shifted blame towards him.
“ You’re really one to talk, Ilyon. I know very well how you have killed entire families in front of children, mothers, or Mates just to get the information that you wanted. I know women and children are not off-limits to you either. It’s war. It’s ugly and it’s not civilized. The luxury of civility does not exist in such circumstances. Anyone and everyone can be an enemy. That does not exclude women and children, as you already know.” I say in a piqued tone.
“ Yes, I do know that. I’m wondering what makes that entire pack so special though. It was the Warriors of the pack that killed your Brother. It was as if you were making an example out of all of them. I’ve seen your handiwork in other missions, and those missions were a lot more calculated and professional. Not everyone received the same treatment. There was not as nearly as much brutality. With Blue Fang there was nothing left, but a scorched village and charred bodies. I would of accepted your explanation that this was all revenge, but When we looked into the Directory of Residence that is located in the Study of Alpha Tanner it was gone. I think you were counting on it looking disorganized and vengeful. Did you find everyone your looking for? “
Ilyon questioned.
I took a deep breathe and stared blankly into Ilyon’s eyes.
“ I told you that pack claimed responsibility for killing my Brother, so whom else would I have used as a trial run for that technique?” I reiterated.
“As for the Directory I don’t know what you’re talking about in the sense that it is missing. I would assume it was destroyed in the fires. Unless the Alpha was just not organized.” I stated with a shrug.
“ You’re withholding, something for me. What is it?” Ilyon pressed. Dissatisfied with my answer.
I glared in warning to Ilyon.
“ There is nothing more that is needed to be said. I chose that pack for the reason that I explained. And it doesn’t require any further details.”I answered too quickly.
“ It does! It allows me to determine your motivation at the time, which will tell me if I need to be concerned about what is currently happening now or the likelihood if what is currently happening has anything to do with you.” Ilyon refuted.
“ This is enough! If you are still questioning me on, my involvement on what is currently going on. There is nothing more than I can say to convince you otherwise. We are done here.” I exclaimed.
I get up out of my seat and head to the door. Just as I am beginning to open the door to leave. Ilyon pushes the door closed. Pressing himself from behind. Looming over my body. I feel a hyper awareness of his presence and where his body is touching mine. Leaving a trail of goosebumps.
“ You leave when I say you can leave.” Ilyon says gravely.
“ Get your damn hand off of the door.” I say, just as gravely.
Ilyon leans down and says into my ear.
Causing even more goosebumps to appear from his warm breathe on my skin. As my body then starts to heat up from his closeness. I grip the handle in an attempt to control my body’s reactions.
“ Watch yourself, Princess.” He warns.
I smirk to myself, and speak over my shoulder.
“ What are you gonna do break your desk some more ?” I tease.
Ilyon smiles coldly.
“ Sit down.” He orders.
“ Stop telling me what to do, Ilyon.” I warn.
I turn to face him which causes Ilyon to lower his arm and take a step back. I see dark amusement in his eyes.
“I’m not a golden retriever.” I add.
Ilyon takes a sharp breath. His eyes seeming to glow.
“ I’m not going to tell you again, Nyx.” Anger, becoming more evident in his voice.
“ Good, I’m tired of listening to you talk.” I say condescendingly.
Ilyon growls. I start to feel the hair on the back of my neck raise as if I’m about to be struck by lightning.
I turn quickly away from him and begin to open the door again, however, when he attempts to slam the door shut.
I concentrate on the space between myself and my soon to be blocked exit. Manipulating the air within that space I cause it to heat up. This heat creates a lifting effect. Blasting out the office door off its hinges completely.
I stride out with determination as I make my way out into the corridor.
Ilyon roars out in protest at my defiance. I can feel the vibration of the roar itself pulsating through the air and shaking the walls.
I stopped and slightly turned back towards him and commented,
“ Woah there Cujo.”
