Windigos A human cursed with an insatiable appetite for human flesh. Solitary creatures. Typically is only awakened during winter months.
Ilyon Shul “Please take a seat.” I instruct Nyx. I look about my office as the four of us settle in. Vikyn stands next to my seat. As Siirist takes it upon himself to be seated next to Nyx in front of my desk. “Explain what you know and how you know it.” I ordered. Nyx raises an eyebrow at me, but doesn’t comment on my tone. “I’m assuming you mean about Windigos and such?” She clarified. I nod. “Alright, My basic knowledge about them is from schooling. It is apart of my education or my people’s education to learn about other creatures, beings, celestials, and influential humans in each realm. Windigos, specifically, are creatures that are most active during the winter months. They typically live in rural areas and feed on villagers, and thought to be a Yeti, Sasquatch, Bigfoot, or even Zombies according to this realm. “You mentioned that you sensed multiples of them? Is that normal?” Vikyn asks. “No, they are solitary in nature.” Nyx responds. “And you knew that an attack has taken place and the fact that there are multiples because you sensed their energies?” Siirist asked. “Yes.” She stated simply. “Explain.” I redirected her back to my original order. Nyx tilts her head and her eyes slightly narrow. Evidently getting more annoyed with me. “I am able to sense the auras or energy of others. The Windigo, I felt it’s malice amongst other signatures, but for some reason the closer I got the more distant and clouded their existence became. To where they disappeared… I could not even smell them.” She elaborates. I think over what Nyx stated and compile all the facts as I stand from my seat. All three watched me cross the room. I stop in front of a window that oversees a garden. I listen in to my surroundings, and hear my pack members. Some living life as normal, unaware of what has happened, however, I also hear the anguish and despair of those who were in the woods with us. Uncertainties about what is happening from those very others. “This is all very convenient. Wouldn’t you guys agree?” I ask aloud. When no one answered me I turned around to see Siirist and Vikyn waiting for me to continue. Nyx looked uncomfortable. I begin to walk over to Nyx while saying, “Any takers on whom orchestrated this kind of attack? I feel we all have gotten the same sense of this situation. Someone has gathered a group of carnivorous predators and released them onto my territory. Who would do such thing? And to top it off…” I place my hands on the arms of Nyx’s chair and loom over her and state in a suspiciously curious tone, “They have no scent identifiers. Which implies your fellow Inferno Militiamen are here in my woods.” Nyx stands up and glares at me. “You think that this is some sort of mission right now?” She asks in disdain. “What else am to think? These Windigos didn’t just magically appear or disappear to where the only person whom can sense them is you.” I point out. “Then why even bother helping earlier?” Nyx asks defensively. “Information. Serial killers can’t help, but interject themselves into an investigation of their very crimes. Why would you be different?” I replied. Nyx’s mouth turns into a hard line and she says darkly, “I’m not the only serial killer in this room, you - asshole.” “She has a point.” Siirist quips. Vikyn steps in. “Okay, we all have committed murder here, but Your Highness, do you have some exclamation to why you can sense them, or even why there is no scent? That is a huge likeness to your talents and skills.” He points out. Nyx ponders to herself and I see realization cross her features. She places her hands onto my shoulders and says, “It is a likeness because whomever is doing this. Is someone from my kingdom.” “I’ve already said that.” I pointed out as I place my hands on her waist, “No. You accused the Inferno Members which it can’t be.” She states. “Why not?” Asks Vikyn. Nyx begins to explain, “They wouldn’t go against the will of the Celestials. The person who is doing this though clearly has ties to the Winged Serpents in some way. Though their motives—“ “Are personal.” I offered. Nyx gives a nod. Siirist then says, “It seems we are to investigate who would want to execute such an attack. What do we do in the mean time? We do have families to consider.” Just as I was about to answer. Siirist, Vikyn, and myself received a mind link straight out of a horror film. I see destruction, debris, bodies torn apart, pools of blood, fire, and the lifeless expressions fixed in their painful last moments. “ALPHA! The nearest township to us has been massacred!” A scout links off. “Where are the humans?!” I link back. “They’re all dead...”
