CHAPTER 003: The hunt.

Alessandro’s Pov

“ Good morning, Mr. Alessandro. The investors are in the lounge waiting for you,” My secretary, Rose walked inside my office.

“ Tell Mr. Callaghan to see them on my behalf and let him give feedback back after the meeting” I responded to Rose without looking up from my laptop.

“ Alright, sir. I’ll do as you have just instructed. Do have a lovely time and ensure you take a break from work” With those soothing words, Rose left my office.

“ Yes, Rose” I responded facetiously, not sure if she heard me.

I’ve been in the office since 7 am working nonstop and my fingers hurt badly.

Sighing, I checked the time from my gold wristwatch. It was 11 Am already.

What?

I can't believe I have not taken any food since morning yet I don't feel hungry. I never skipped breakfast, especially since Cassie came into my life. Since Cassie was a good cook, I often ate more than I wanted. She was as good as a professional chef.

But the case is different now.

Since yesterday too, I noticed I have been battling with insomnia and this chronic headache that comes and goes.

Remembering Cassie my now ex-wife, makes me want to go crazy. She hurt my feelings deeply and I don't want to talk about it or think about her.

One thing is for sure, I will get back at her and make life miserable for her.

Cassie has never seen the monstrous side of me because we've been more like Strangers while we were still together.

I am not a man who cares much about ladies—my taste for them is high.

Cassie is the only one who has all I ever needed in a woman.

As for love, I never loved Cassie. She knows. We were just bound by a contract and that is all.

But just a few days ago…

“Gosh! I don't want to talk about it” I said to myself and bit my lower lips in pain of betrayal.

Since being married a year now, it has never occurred to me that Cassie is a chronic cheat. How was I supposed to know? She was just perfect. When I say perfect, she was second to God's Angels in Heaven.

Too bad. Her personality made me begin to fall crazily in love with her. She was just too good that everyone in my shoes would slowly get addicted to her charms.

But what did she do? Cheat on me with some crazy scumbag. The night the devastating nude pictures of Cassie were sent to my phone by someone I did not care to investigate, my world crashed to shards.

Cassie made me cry, and for this reason, I have promised to carry out my vendetta against her. No one dares me and goes free.

Grabbing my phone, I searched for my gallery and looked for a particular picture. The picture popped up on my screen and my heartbeat increased.

I could see flames flickering from my eyes as I kept glancing at the nude picture of my wife and a young man from the screen.

Furious, I deleted the picture and flung my phone away.

Why would Cassie do such a thing to me? Why?

From the desk where my phone lay, I heard it ring out loud, so I hunched to pick up the phone.

“ Hello, handsome. I’ve been calling you, but you’ve not been taking my calls,” I heard the sweet voice of a lady say to me from the phone. I was quite familiar with that voice even if her contact was unsaved on my phone.

“ What do you want? How many times have I warned you never to call my phone?” I yelled unapologetically at her.

“ Honey please calm down. You know how much I love you right? Now that your wife is no more, why don't we just get married?” She said and I became more infuriated.

“ I am warning you for the last time, you slut. If you ever call my phone again, then be sure to see the other side of me” I quickly hung up on the phone.

Feeling embittered, I dialed my investigator's number, Williams Adams.

He took the call and I said to him,” Come to my office immediately. I have a job for you”

“Okay, sir!” He replied at once.

“ Don't keep me waiting” I replied and hung up.

Some thirty minutes later, I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in” I replied, composing myself.

Williams walked in immediately. He was just as early as I wanted.

“ Good day Mr. Alessandro”

“ Sit down, Williams ” I did not respond to his greetings.

“ You said you have a job for me”

“ Yes, ” I replied and brought out the photograph of Cassie that I had taken hold of earlier from the house.

“ Here,” I pushed the photograph for Williams to see.

Williams grabbed the photograph and I saw how his countenance suddenly transformed into a dark expression. Different thoughts were going through William's mind. I know he has many questions for me.

“ Mr. Alessandro,” he looked me in the eyes. “ Is this not your wife, Cassie?” He asked me with shock on his face.

“ Yes,” I replied,“ I want you to find her”

“ Why? Did she die? I saw her a few days back. Did anything bad happen to her?” Williams gave an expression that proved he was not ready for the job.

“ Stop asking questions, Williams. Just do as I say! Find Cassie and bring her back to me. You have two weeks for this task, Williams. And I don't want any flimsy excuse," I angrily dismiss Williams.

Cassie will have to face my wrath for cheating on me. I'll kindly play my beats for her to waltz.
