CHAPTER 007: The Threat

Cassie’s POV

My sleep was quite peaceful that afternoon until I heard a loud knock on the door.

From the living room, I groggily walked out of the couch and yawned at my disrupted sleep.

“ I'm coming,” I responded, walking to get the door.

Without checking out the person on the door, I opened the door wide and was shocked at who I saw standing outside.

It was one of Alessandro's workers. What is he doing here, and how did he find me?

Have only seen him one of the days I went with Alessandro to his company.

Standing flushed by the door and gazing at Williams, my throat suddenly became dry. My mind tells me Alessandro sent him.

"Hello, Cassie. Do you remember me?” He asked me, standing by the door and

I nodded.

“ Yes, I remember you. Please come in,” I let Williams in, and we headed to the living room together.

“ I know you must be surprised at why I came here and how I found you,” Williams said to me, and I furrowed my brows.

“ I was just thinking about it,” I replied, my head filled with different thoughts.

I kept having these weird thoughts that Alessandro sent Williams to find me and bring me home.

Williams moved his back from leaning on the couch and sat at the edge of the couch with an expression that showed he had an urgent message to deliver.

“ Cassie,” He called my name, frightening me with his breath.

“ Yes, Mr Williams, “ I answered, curious to know what he wanted to say to me,

I was hoping my husband, Alessandro, would want me back. It's been six months already.

“ I came here because Mr. Alessandro sent me.” Williams got me terrified, and I became curious.

“ What did he say? Did he send you to bring me back to him?” I asked, anxious and hoping to hear some good news.

Williams shook his head negatively, indicating that I was wrong.

” Cassie, Mr. Alessandro did not send me to bring you home. But listen carefully to what I have to say. My time is brief,” Williams said, disappointing me and incurring fear in me instead.

I composed myself.” Okay, Mr Williams. I'm all ears.” I adjusted myself, masking my disappointment with a feigned confidence.

“Mr Alessandro sent me to come know where you're living. I have been doing my investigation for six months since I was given the job. But listen, this is what I want to tell you, Cassie: run for your life. Alessandro is coming to hurt you. I love you too much, and that is why I came to tell you this.” Williams shocked me, my heart racing beyond control.

I can't believe Alessandro meant what he said to me six months ago when he served me the divorce papers.

I raised my face in fear. “ Alessandro is after my life?” I asked to be cleared.

“ Yes, Cassie,” Williams replied to me and rose from the couch.” Run for your life. I don't have much time. Gotta leave”

Williams began to walk to the door, and I stood up and ran after him, at least to thank him.

After thanking him, I opened the door for him to leave, my heart racing from his message.

As the door swung open, I caught the sight of Rhain’s friend standing by the door, holding a big red rose flower in his hands.

Alexander and Williams exchanged glances but did not say a word to each other.

I was already transfixed in fear that the evil spirit of timidity left me.

“ Good day,” I greeted Alexander and left him in.

“ Good day, Cassie,” Alexander answered me with a dark expression on his face. His face was not looking good.

“ Rhain is not at home, “ I cleared, wondering why he came.

“ I know Cassie. Rhain is in my house, but I came here because of you, “ Alexander revealed, shocking me.

“ Rhain is in your house?” I asked, somewhat shocked as Alexander glanced at me.

“ Rhain did not deliver my message? She didn't tell you she was coming to my house?” He asked, his seductive eyes glued to mine..

“ Oh, she did,” I quickly lied and laughed, covering for my cousin.

Rhain did not tell me she was going to Alexander’s place. I am just hearing it from Alexander. But what is he doing here when Rhain is in his house?

" Cassie, I came here to see you. And here, I got you this.” He handed me the flowers, which filled my nose with its pungent fragrance.

“ Thank you,” I collected it with a smile on my face.

“ Cassie,” he called me in his sweet voice, his seductive eyes stirring up something inside of me.

“ Yes, “ I replied uneasily and quickly took my hands off his.” Do you mind me getting you a glass of juice? I mean, it's hot here.” A sly, uneasy, confused laugh escaped my lips as I fanned myself.

Alexander laughed. He seems to be enjoying every bit of me but I was flushed with shame.

“ No, thank you. Just Stay with me.” Alexander gripped my hands again, stopping me from leaving.

I itch my neck, overshadowed in shame.

“ Okay,” I managed to respond.

Staring at me, Alexander said to me”, come with me let us go somewhere together ”

“Huh? I… I.. “ I stammered, wanting to refuse at once, but Alexander suddenly pulled me up and wrapped his two hands on my waist.

“ I love you so much. Be the love of my life, please?” He proposed to me.

" Huh?" I muttered, with wild eyes.
