The Golden Decision

Adian and Ethan walked side by side watching their steps. His expression was calm as usual. Adian could feel the weight of everyone, their judgement, their stare and their assumptions. She didn't let that belittle her or felt ashamed instead she felt powerful.

David stepped into the hall.

His jaw tightened . His confidence was low when he saw both Adian and Ethan.

“Adian”?. He said, forcing a smile. You decided to show”?.

“Yes..I did”. She said calmly.

Molly joined him.

“Sister, we were so worried about you”. She said nervously.

Adian face was cold sharp and unforgiven

“ Don't”. She said quietly.

Molly's mouth went dry; she didn't know what else to say because the words carry more weight than scream.

Daniel cleared his throat.

“ Whatever the point is. Pointing to Ethan. Let's not make a bigger scene than necessary.”

“A scene?. Adian repeated

“Yes. Daniel continued. You disappeared the night before our wedding and people have already started talking . So let's handle this privately.

Adian laughed.

“Like how do you handle things privately?. She asked in a calm voice.

Daniel's expression changed.

“ What are you saying?”

Adian took a step closer.

“Should I say it out loud? Or you prefer I describe it?. Exactly what I saw last night”. She asked.

There was a large murmur among the crowds. David's jaw tightened.

“Adian?”. He warned but she didn't listen

“You were in bed with my sister last night”?. She said, locking her eyes in his.

The murmur was large this time. Molly's face turned pale.

“ That's not true”. He wanted to say that but his voice was low.

“Not true?”. Adian cut in. “Go on. Say it”.

He couldn't. He was silent and that silence said everything.

“I trusted you”. She said softly. “And you”?. She turned to Molly . “ You were my family. How could you?”. Her voice didn't break but something in it did.

Molly's eyes were filled with tears.

“Adian…please”. She said begging.

“No. Adian said firmly. You don't get to beg now”.

Every guest was watching. Every secret was exposed everywhere silent.

“ Fine”. David's face changes. “Do you want to play that card now?. His expression hardened again.“You think anyone would believe you?. you disappeared last night and suddenly showed up with another man. …What does that mean?”.

“What do you mean”?. Adian snapped.

David let out a dry laugh. Adian could feel it. The doubt, the opinions shifting.

David stepped closer to her, lowering his voice but loud enough for others to hear.

“ You have already ruined your own reputation. Don't drag mine with you”.

Adian smiled. It wasn't soft ,kind,her smile was sharp, confident and unshaken.

“Actually, she said her voice was clear and steady. I don't need to drag you down. I have already moved on”. She said holding Ethan's hand.

The words hit harder than expected. David wasn't expecting that. He froze.

“What?

Adian turned to the crowd and announced.

“Today I won't be marrying David Carter…because I am already married “.

The crowd grasps. There was a chaotic loud murmur from the crowd.

“That's impossible “. Daniel said, staring at her.

“It is.?” She asked calmly.

Ethan finally spoke. His voice was calm, low and controlling. Powerful enough to command the room.

“It's not”. All eyes turned to him now.

David's throat went dry.

“You expect me to believe that?”

Ethan reached for his pocket and brought out a document and handed it to David.

He hesitated before collecting it. Open it carefully, his eyes scanning through the paper.

“Marriage certificate”?. He said in disbelief. It's officially signed and real.

Molly stepped closer to peep through his shoulder… and her hands began to tremble…

Adian watched them seeing how their confidence crumbled and for the first time. She felt justice.

David finally looked up, his feelings were mixed with disbelief and anger.

“You married him?... You don't even know him…!

Adian didn't flinch.

“I know enough”. She said

“And what is that supposed to mean?”.

“It means he didn't betray me”. She replied calmly.

Daniel's face darkened. The words hit harder than any accusations. “ This is a mistake. You're acting out of emotion…you will regret this”.

“No. The only thing I regret… is ever loving you”.

David was completely silent.

Molly stepped forward.

“Adian please we are still family. Please don't do this”.

Adian turned to her

“No!”. She said

This time there was nothing left, not even warmth or hesitation.

Ethan placed his hand around Adian .

“Shall we go?. He asked softly.

Adian nodded, turning away without looking back to the man who broke her or to her sister who betrayed her and to her life she would never return to. As the door closed behind them, the whispers raised up loudly.

The air felt lighter and fresher when they stepped outside as Adian inhaled slowly. Though her heart was still racing.

“ Was that too much?”. She asked softly.

Ethan looked at her.

“No. He replied… it was just the beginning “.

Then there was a brief pause.

Adian met his eyes and for the first time sure everything fell apart. She smiled not out of pain or out of revenge but because she had taken back her power.

The Blackwood mansion was so fine and beautiful. It wasn't just large, it was gigantic. The gates alone were taller than most of the buildings she had ever seen. It was crafted from black iron with authentic designs that speak wealth, power and control. As their car drove through the driveway, she could clearly see the perfectly trimmed flowers,a fountain that shines under the afternoon sun. Adian sat quietly in the passenger seat, her hand folded in her lap. This was real. She could feel it. She had left everything behind and she is stepping into something entirely new.

Ethan sat silently focused on the road. He

didn't bother glancing at her because he could but only imagine how many million thoughts will be going through her mind.
