I know from Caroline that Belgi went to the investigator who wrote that letter, but he didn’t get the truth out of him; instead the investigator threatened to arrest Belgi himself “for failing to raise his underage brother properly” and also for the poem that was found on his brother, in which Belgi had written:
Out of the old chaotic disorder
to create a new disorder –
this, perhaps, is to live…
claiming that Belgi was inciting public disorder…. The investigator was also going to arrest Bakh and Alish, who had been brought to him to check their stories against Belgi’s, and it was only thanks to the intervention of Caroline and the US embassy that Belgi was let out of the investigator’s room at all. And then Caroline persuaded Belgi to go away to Tajikista
