Chapter 2: Sweet Night

1776 Words
Five years later Brisia took a deep breath. The clock on her hand showed almost midnight, and she was still wandering around looking for work, but Brisia still hadn’t found any. She decided to take the train home, with only a little money left. In her hands were eggs and some potatoes that she had bought at the supermarket to cook tomorrow. Brisia had to walk quite a distance to reach the small, shabby apartment she lived in. Finally, she arrived. Tsk… When she entered, the enthusiastic voices of children immediately greeted her. “MOMMYYYYYY!!!!” Brisia was surprised. She didn’t have time to say anything because the four toddlers ran quickly and hugged her legs. She, who had wanted to be angry because her children didn’t sleep according to her instructions this morning, couldn’t bear it and smiled. Her heart warmed. She squatted down and returned the hug warmly. “Mommy, Mommy is finally home! We’ve been waiting for Mommy for a long time,” said Brisia’s first child, Adonis Berdine. Their hug ended. Brisia folded her arms in front of her chest. Her face showed as if she was angry. Brisia is a mother who is very strict and quite fierce with her four children. “Didn’t Mommy order you to go to bed at 9 p.m.? And we have made an agreement regarding that. Now you’re breaking it?” asked Brisia. The four children bowed their heads. “Mommy, but we can’t sleep if you’re not home. We have to make sure that Mommy comes home safely,” said Bastian, Brisia’s second child. Brisia’s firm face changed quickly. Of course, she was moved. Before Brisia had time to speak, her two children grabbed her hand. “Mommy, we have prepared something for you!” said Carlos Berdine, Brisia’s third child. “Hm?” Brisia looked confused. They pulled Brisia into the dining room. She was asked to sit down. Brisia was very surprised to see their dining room, which had been decorated so romantically. There were lots of red rose petals, and candles were lit. Not only that, but also several kinds of dishes that really aroused her taste. Even her stomach started to growl. The four children giggled. “Mommy, we have prepared all this for Mommy. We know Mommy must be very tired. That’s why we cooked all this. And of course, the chef is Davina! She’s the best!” Bastian said, praising his twin. “Where did you guys get the money to buy this food? There are only a few eggs and chickens that Mommy prepared for you.” How could she not feel surprised? Some of the food served is quite luxurious. “Of course, we used our piggy bank money,” Adonis said. Brisia was about to speak again, but Carlos was quick to speak. “Mommy, come on! It’s Mommy’s birthday. It’s past midnight!” he said. Brisia was surprised. She looked at her kids, who were smiling broadly at her. “It’s Mommy’s birthday!” Even Brisia herself forgot! She’s so busy looking for work! “A moment!” Davina went to the kitchen to bring a small cake. In the middle, there was a candle. The four children sang a birthday song for their Mommy. “Blow out the candles, Mommy! Make a wish!” Brisia couldn’t help but smile. The feeling was really warm. She doesn’t want much. Only one. ‘Hopefully, my little family finds happiness.’ Then, Brisia blew out her candles. “Yeayyy!!!” A warm night for their little family. * In the morning, Brisia left after making breakfast for her children. And now the four children are together. The four of them surrounded a newspaper they got this morning. “This! This job seems suitable for Mommy!” Adonis said. “Hm. Carlos! Hurry up and make a job application! Make Mommy’s CV as cool as possible so that Mommy can be accepted into the job as soon as possible,” Adonis said. “Alright!” “This one, too! And this one, also this one!” Brisia’s four twin children helped Brisia find work. They wouldn’t let their Mommy fight alone. But when they looked at the newspaper, they found a headline that caught their attention. News with the Headline, “The Genius Billionaire Mercilessly Dominates the European Trading Market!” with a picture of a handsome and dashing man next to the news. The four children looked closely at the billionaire’s face, then took turns looking at their faces one by one. The four raised their eyebrows. They all had the same thoughts. “Isn’t this man’s face similar to ours?” Adonis asked. The three twins nodded their heads. “Yes, you’re right,” answered Bastian. “Who is this man? This is the first time I’ve seen him,” asked Davina. Carlos immediately ran to his mother’s computer and looked for information about the man. “I found his profile! Look at this!” Carlos said very loudly while calling his other twins. They immediately ran around looking at the computer screen and reading every piece of information written there. “Hmm... interesting,” said the four of them together. Brisia, who was hotly going in and out of the magnificent buildings, suddenly received a call from an unknown number. Brisia answered the call. “Yes? It’s me, Brisia.” “What?! Oh, okay! I’ll be there soon! I’ll be quick!” That sluggish face immediately turned into enthusiasm! Brisia immediately put her cell phone back in her bag and left. Finally, Brisia arrived at a well-known brand store. She got a phone call to come to work immediately. Brisia was actually confused because she hadn’t submitted a job application there. But Brisia didn’t want to bother. This may be a rare miracle! * “You work from today. Give your best. We will look at your performance to decide whether you are suitable to work here or not,” said the manager. Brisia smiled. “I will do my best!” * “Oh my God! Mr. Avram Arbecio is coming! Everyone! Do your best! Don’t make any mistakes! Understood?!” the manager warned all the employees under her auspices. The atmosphere was quite lively among the employees. ‘Mr. Avram Arbecio? Who is he?’ Brisia asked herself. Until Brisia saw the figure. Brisia was quite surprised. Because that face was very, very charming! Brisia herself was stunned and acknowledged his good looks. Brisia watched the man intensely. That face was too perfect with a firm jaw. So masculine. Thick and neat eyebrows. Two beautiful hazel eyes stared intently. That sharp nose, naturally pink lips, and neatly trimmed beard. It doesn’t stop there. This man also has a tall, straight, and muscular body. Truly the definition of a perfect physique! Seeing that face, especially his eyes, reminded Brisia of someone. ‘He reminds me of my children. They’re quite similar.’ But then Brisia snorted and shook her head at her ridiculous thoughts. “What are you doing?! Why are you just daydreaming like that?! Hurry and serve Mr. Arbecio! Don’t let him be disappointed with your service!!” said the manager while looking at her with a cynical look. Brisia was surprised. She nodded her head and immediately greeted Mr. Avram, their esteemed customer. “Mr. Arbecio, allow me to serve you. Is there something you’re looking for? Let me help you look for it,” said Brisia very kindly while bowing slightly, very politely. There was no answer from Avram. He looked at Brisia with a stony gaze. His mouth closed tightly, then he stepped forward. Brisia was confused, but she still followed this respected customer from behind. “Shoes. Latest edition. Bring it before me,” said the man. Brisia was stunned, and without asking too many questions, she immediately brought up what this man wanted. She had seen the shoes he was wearing and had guessed what size they were. Brisia brought several new edition shoes, according to his request. Avram sat on a comfortable sofa. He let the woman beneath him take off his shoes and then put on the shoes he wanted. Again, he stared intently at the woman. His eyes narrowed. ‘This woman. Her face seemed familiar. Have I met this woman before?’ Avram never makes mistakes in his guess. “Turn your face up,” he said. “Yes, sir? Is there anything else you want?” asked Brisia. Even though she was surprised, she still looked up. She felt quite surprised and uncomfortable when the man grabbed her chin. Brisia intended to dodge, but the manager’s sharp gaze from the other end of the room made her shut up. ‘Tsk, damn! Even though this man was being impolite to me. Should I just surrender?!’ Brisia’s gaze changed. She really didn’t like being treated like this. The look in her eyes illustrated her displeasure, and Avram knew it. “Have we met before?” Avram asked, still in his flat tone. No longer able to stand being treated carelessly, Brisia pushed Avram’s arm away. It couldn’t be a lie that Avram was surprised because apparently this woman, who he thought was very obedient, could be so brave. “No. We never met before,” she said. Brisia’s face looked down, and she finished her task. Putting on those shoes. The size she brought was just right. “This is the right size for your feet, sir. Is there anything else I can help you with?” asked Brisia. She immediately stood up. Avram just stared without speaking, then stood up and left. Brisia was silent, while the manager immediately followed Avram. "Mr. Avram, I apologize if our service was less than satisfactory. We will immediately fire the woman who—” “My assistant will pay for these shoes,” Avram interrupted the manager and left the boutique. The person Avram was referring to arrived shortly after. Brisia, who was serving another customer, felt her hand being grabbed and pulled into the storage warehouse. “What are you doing?! I saw your poor service earlier! Do you want me to fire you?! It's fortunate that you work here! Luckily, this store is currently short-staffed! I'll give you one more chance, or I'll fire you!” said the manager, glaring sharply while gripping Brisia's hand tightly. Brisia wasn’t afraid at all. She stared straight at the manager until, finally, the manager left. Brisia grumbled, “That man treated me badly. Of course, I would react like that. Who is that man, really?” To be continued…
